What does a Contract Developer Advocate do?

A Contract Developer Advocate is a technology professional hired on a contract basis to promote a company's products or platforms to the developer community. Their main responsibilities include creating technical content, engaging with developers through talks and social media, gathering feedback, and helping improve developer experiences. Unlike full-time advocates, contract positions are typically project-based or temporary, allowing companies to leverage their expertise for specific campaigns or needs. They play a key role in bridging the gap between developers and product teams, ensuring that developers have the resources and support they need.

Job description

ContinuServe is seeking a Staff Engineer, Technology Consulting โ€“ Google Advocate to serve as the customer-facing and technical solutioning focal point for Digital Workplace Solutions (DWS) across the Google enterprise stack โ€“ including Chrome Enterprise Premium (CEP), Cameyo, Google Workspace, and Gemini/Vertex AI.
Based in Morrisville, this role works closely with the Google partner teams and the service delivery teams to accelerate customer adoption through workshops, demos, and proofs of concept (POCs). In addition to customer engagements, this role turns customer demands into repeatable services and platform solutions, packaging learnings into reusable assets that scale delivery and future pursuits.
This is a highly entrepreneurial role within an agile team. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, takes ownership of technical strategies, and is passionate about learning and applying new technologies to solve real customer problems.
This is a 12-month contract, with the potential for extension based on business needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Pre-Sales & Opportunity Shaping (Sales Overlay)
  • Address technical questions from sales teams to support deal qualification and solution fit.
  • Support early-stage opportunity shaping with account/pipeline visibility and structured technical discovery.
  • Create crisp solution narratives and architectures for CEP, Cameyo, Workspace, and AI-led workplace motions.
2. Customer Engagement, Workshops & POCs (North America)
  • Lead customer workshops, demos, and POC scoping (KPIs + plan), aligning stakeholders on success criteria.
  • Execute POC delivery and validate outcomes; translate learnings into next-step recommendations and scaled motions.
  • Capture and package repeatable assets (workshop agendas, POC templates, reference architectures) to accelerate future engagements.
3. Service Solutioning & Delivery Support
  • Perform service solutioning: define service components, scope, deliverables, risks, effort estimates, and required skill sets.
  • Ensure proper handoff from deal closing to service delivery with clear artifacts and acceptance criteria.
  • Augment and scale service delivery by supporting design reviews, escalations, and quality checks as needed.
4. Services & Platform Solutioning for Strategic Initiatives
  • Co-develop services and platform solutions with Google technical teams and internal stakeholders around the Google tech stack.
  • Prototype and validate AI solution patterns (e.g. agentic orchestration layer, RAG approaches, persona-based workflow recommendations, AI adoption metrics) with enterprise guardrails.
  • Translate platform capabilities into repeatable service plays.
5. Enablement, Adoption & Partner Technical Assets
  • Create/update partner technical sales assets and field playbooks to improve sales effectiveness and delivery consistency.
  • Promote Google technology adoption for DWS offerings and internal usage through demos, guidance, and best-practice sharing.
Key Qualifications
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience in solution engineering, technical consulting, customer success engineering, or enterprise technology delivery.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and problem-solving capacityโ€”evidence of quickly mastering new platforms and delivering outcomes in ambiguous environments.
  • Strong customer-facing skills: ability to run workshops, whiteboard architectures, and align technical and business stakeholders on KPIs.
  • Agent/workflow platform engineering mindset: demonstrated experience building or solutioning reusable workflow/skill libraries (tools/functions) and agentic orchestration patterns with approval gates, restricted capabilities, and auditable execution history, enabling repeatable delivery and measurable ROI in enterprise settings.
  • Solid technical fundamentals across enterprise IT (identity, endpoint management, networking basics, security concepts) and cloud/SaaS patterns.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable producing executive-ready narratives and technical artifacts.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for customer engagements across North America.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on familiarity with one or more: Chrome Enterprise Premium (CEP), Cameyo, Google Workspace, Gemini, Vertex AI (or comparable platforms).
  • Experience delivering workshops, pilots, or POCs related to secure access, browser-first strategies, endpoint security, or SaaS modernization.
  • Experience working in partner ecosystems (ISVs/SIs/MSPs) and co-selling/co-delivery motions.
  • Relevant certifications or demonstrated equivalent expertise in Google or cloud/AI solutioning.
