Job Summary
B&A is seeking a SAP Development Consultant - Technical Senior Consultant to support a federal government client operating within a classified environment. This role is responsible for the design, development, and sustainment of custom ABAP solutions - including reports, enhancements, forms, interfaces, and workflows - that extend and optimize SAP ERP/S4HANA capabilities in support of complex federal business requirements. The ideal candidate is a seasoned ABAP developer with broad cross-module experience, deep knowledge of the SAP enhancement framework and S/4HANA development paradigms, and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, secure, and maintainable custom solutions within the rigorous change management and cybersecurity standards of a classified federal environment.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy custom ABAP solutions including reports, enhancements, interfaces, forms, and workflows across SAP ERP/S4HANA functional modules in support of federal business requirements
  • Analyze functional specifications and technical requirements provided by functional consultants and solution architects, translating them into robust, performant, and maintainable ABAP code
  • Develop and maintain SAP enhancements using user exits, Business Add-Ins (BAdIs), enhancement spots, Business Transaction Events (BTEs), and implicit and explicit enhancement framework components
  • Build and maintain custom SAP reports using ABAP Objects, ALV Grid and List, and SAP Query tools, ensuring accurate data retrieval and adherence to federal reporting standards
  • Design and develop SAP Adobe Forms, SAP Smart Forms, and SAPscript output objects in support of federal procurement, financial, and operational document requirements
  • Develop and maintain Workflow (SAP Business Workflow and SAP Business Rule Framework plus) solutions to automate approval processes and business event management across functional areas
  • Conduct thorough unit testing, code reviews, and performance tuning of custom ABAP developments, ensuring code quality and compliance with SAP development standards and client coding guidelines
  • Manage and maintain SAP transport requests across development, quality assurance, and production system landscapes in adherence to federal change management policies
  • Collaborate with functional consultants, architects, and federal IT security teams to ensure all custom developments meet SAP security authorization concepts and federal cybersecurity requirements
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including technical design specifications, code documentation, transport logs, and post-implementation support runbooks

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in SAP ABAP development across multiple functional modules including design, development, testing, and production support of custom reports, enhancements, forms, and workflows
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting federal government clients or operating within regulated, defense, or classified IT environments
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ABAP Objects and the SAP enhancement framework including user exits, BAdIs, enhancement spots, BTEs, CDS views, AMDPs, and OData service development in SAP S/4HANA
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field

Required Skills
  • Deep proficiency in ABAP development including ABAP Objects (OOP), data dictionary objects, internal tables, field symbols, dynamic programming, and performance optimization techniques
  • Extensive experience developing SAP enhancements using user exits, BAdIs, enhancement spots, BTEs, and implicit/explicit enhancement framework components across core SAP modules (FI, MM, PP, SD, HCM)
  • Hands-on experience building custom ALV reports, SAP Adobe Forms, Smart Forms, and SAPscript output objects for federal financial, procurement, and operational use cases
  • Proficiency in SAP Workflow development including task definition, event linkage, agent determination, and Business Rule Framework plus (BRFplus) rule configuration
  • Strong understanding of SAP authorization concepts, role-based access control, and the security implications of custom ABAP development in a classified federal environment

  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA development paradigms including CDS (Core Data Services) views, AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures), and OData service development
  • Ability to interpret and implement functional design specifications with precision, and to communicate technical constraints and solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working within federal or classified IT environments with adherence to strict change management, code review, and cybersecurity compliance protocols

Desired Skills
