Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Among other duties, the Business Relationship Manager I (SA) develops new commercial banking business prospects in accordance with established business development plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties, as assigned, including cross training across other departments. as necessary

  • Develops new commercial banking business prospects in accordance with established business development plan
  • Retains and deepens existing customer relationships by providing excellent customer service and developing effective individual business plans
  • Responsible for growing a loan portfolio by targeting small and local business and is able to generate between $3MM - $6MM in annual gross production.
  • Focuses on building a team and working cohesively with all staff at the banking center.
  • Actively contributes to help meet the banking center's goals, as well as individual sales and referral goals by cross-selling and referring customers to bank business partners when more complex financial needs are recognized such as; Commercial Lending, Mortgage, Investments, Merchant Services, Wealth Management or Treasury Management
  • Structures and presents credit and deposit products and services to the customer with collaboration as needed from other business units
  • Negotiates within guidelines as to credit pricing, terms, and structures with an emphasis on closing sales
  • Oversees preparation of new and renewal loan packages for approval and facilitation of the credit approval process
  • May solicit or take residential mortgage loan applications; may offer or negotiate the terms of residential mortgage loan applications
  • Manages the hiring, daily activities, coaching, evaluating and counseling of reporting staff
  • Participates in job specific training and other various Bank training programs, as necessary
  • Maintains current knowledge of internal risk controls and loss prevention, including reporting of suspicious or unusual customer activity per Bank policy, and ensures adherence by the respective department personnel
  • Maintains current knowledge and complies with all federal and state laws and regulations and all established Bank policies and procedures, including internal audit controls related to department operations, and ensures adherence by the respective department personnel
  • Maintains current knowledge of all rules, regulations, and laws as they apply to BSA/OFAC/USA Patriot Act/CIP/AML, and ensures adherence by the respective department personnel

QUALIFICATIONS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.   • Must be a team player with a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related discipline
  • Must have at least three years’ prior experience working as a Credit Analyst for a financial institution
  • Advanced industry-sponsored lending and marketing courses are preferred
  • Strong business acumen and sound judgment are required in order to accurately assess the creditworthiness of prospects and clients and the probability of successful repayment
  • Credit analysis training or sufficient knowledge of credit analysis methods and techniques in order to support loan decisions is necessary
  • Must maintain knowledge of the bank’s products and services regarding commercial banking pricing and products
  • Must stay abreast of effective sales and service practices, and any relevant industry trends or other necessary information
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment with frequent interruptions are required in order to accurately perform tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary for maintaining effective relationships with employees, customers, and prospective customers, directors, and shareholders
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired

ORGANIZATION

  • This position reports directly to the Chief Lending Officer and/or a Market President
  • This position may oversee a Lending Specialist

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

All employees are required to attend scheduled mandatory trainings and complete online regulatory compliance training courses applicable to their specific job function. In all situations, employees must ensure that their actions fully comply with all federal banking laws and regulations, including internal bank policies and procedures. Failure to adhere to these requirements will be grounds for disciplinary action, including probation and possible termination.
