Job description

We are seeking a creative, driven, and self-sufficient Social Media Manager & Content Creator to lead the Great Lakes Endurancesocial presence across Instagram, Facebook, and other emerging platforms. The ideal candidate is an active member of the running community, has an eye for viral content, and knows how to grow and engage an audience with authentic storytelling and impactful visuals.
This position requires both digital content creation during the week and on-site coverage at approximately 5 race events throughout the season (June-August), plus occasional activations like community runs or brand partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Social Media Management
Plan, schedule, and publish regular content across @greatlakesendurance Instagram and Facebook.
Build and maintain a monthly content calendar aligned with brand goals and event schedule.
Engage with followers by responding to comments, DMs, and community tags.
2. Content Creation
Capture and edit short-form videos (Reels, TikToks) and photography at events.
Write compelling copy that aligns with the Aravaipa brand voice.
Repurpose content for multiple formats and platforms.
Collaborate with our main Aravaipa Running account when appropriate
3. On-Site Event Coverage (Required Travel)
Attend ~5 race weekends per year across Northern Michigan to produce live stories, behind-the-scenes content, and post-race recaps.
Capture and post real-time content to bring the race experience to life.
4. Brand Strategy & Viral Marketing
Work with our central marketing team to brainstorm creative campaigns and moments.
Contribute to brand growth goals: increased reach, engagement, and follower growth.
Stay up to date on social trends and viral formats to experiment and test new ideas.
5. Collaborations & Community Engagement
Coordinate collabs with local runners, influencers, and race sponsors.
Create hype around new events, registration opens, and special announcements.
Qualifications:
Experience managing social media accounts for a brand or organization.
Strong video editing skills for mobile platforms (Reels/TikTok).
Passion for trail/ultra running and familiarity with the culture.
Excellent written communication and visual storytelling abilities.
Able to travel to race events on weekends and work flexible hours.
Self-starter, creative thinker, and able to work independently.
(Bonus) Experience with Canva, Lightroom, CapCut, or other design/video tools.


Hours:
10-20 hours per month in the off season (September to May)
Increased hours in season & race weekends
