23andMe is seeking a dynamic and seasoned Executive Social Media Content Creator to serve as the dedicated content arm for the Founder/CEO. This is an incredible role at the intersection of digital-first thought leadership, advancing genetics and social-first storytelling. You will be responsible for building and maintaining Founder/CEO's personal social media presence, crafting a compelling, authentic narrative that reflects her vision for the future of health, science, and personal empowerment.
This role requires a seasoned content creator with demonstrated experience managing social media for C-suite executives or public figures. You will operate as a one-person production studio, planning, capturing, editing, and analyzing content, while also occasionally traveling with Founder/CEO to capture in-the-moment storytelling opportunities.
Who We Are
We are a group of individuals passionate about genetic discovery. 23andMe Research Institute is a nonprofit medical research organization that enables people everywhere to access their genetic information, learn about themselves, and participate in the world's largest crowdsourced research initiative. The Institute aims to be the world's most significant contributor to scientific advancement, uniting people with the common goal of improving health and deepening our understanding of DNA - the code of life.
What You'll Do
  • Strategy, Planning & Content Writing: Developing editorial calendars, scripting posts and short-form video, and crafting captions that capture the Founder/CEO's authentic voice across platforms.
  • Content Capture: On-the-ground filming and photography at events, speaking engagements, lab visits, and day-in-the-life moments. Proficiency with both smartphone and DSLR camera required.
  • Editing & Content Creation: End-to-end post-production including video editing, graphic design, and asset creation. Must be proficient in Premiere Pro and/or CapCut; design experience using Canva or AI-powered tools is acceptable.
  • Content Analysis & Optimization: Reviewing performance metrics, identifying what's working, and iterating on the content strategy to maximize reach and engagement.
  • CEO Thought Leadership: Develop and steward the Founder/CEO's social media persona across LinkedIn, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, and other relevant platforms, ensuring consistency, authenticity, and alignment with 23andMe's brand and mission. Partner with Head of Communications on PR and social media thought leadership.
  • Full-Cycle Production: Conceptualize, script, shoot, and edit high-quality video and photo content independently, from ideation through publishing.
  • Travel & On-Site Coverage: Accompany Founder/CEO to speaking engagements, conferences, media events, and other appearances (approximately 30% travel) to capture real-time content opportunities.
  • Trend & Culture Tracking: Monitor internet culture, algorithm shifts, and platform trends to identify timely, authentic opportunities for Founder/CEO to participate in relevant conversations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Brand Marketing, Communications, and Science teams to align Founder/CEO's content with major product launches, heritage initiatives, and company milestones.
  • Messaging & Narrative Development: Craft thoughtful, executive-level messaging that positions Founder/CEO as a leading voice in genetics, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience: 3-6+ years of professional experience in social media content creation or digital marketing, with at least 2 years of executive or high-profile personal brand management.
  • Executive Social Media Expertise: Proven track record managing social media accounts for C-suite executives, public figures, or thought leaders. Portfolio of executive-level content required.
  • Production Skills: Comfortable filming professional-quality content using both smartphones and DSLR cameras. Experienced in lighting, framing, and capturing spontaneous moments in dynamic environments.
  • Technical Mastery: Proficiency in Premiere Pro and/or CapCut for video editing. Design experience required - Canva or AI-powered design tools are acceptable. Familiarity with reporting tools to analyze and optimize content performance.
  • Platform Expertise: Deep understanding of platform-specific nuances across LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Facebook - including what performs well for individual creators vs. brands.
  • Copywriting & Messaging: Exceptional editorial skills with the ability to adapt voice and tone for executive-level communications. Comfortable writing everything from punchy captions to nuanced long-form LinkedIn posts.
  • Travel Availability: Able and willing to travel approximately 30% of the time, including domestic and international trips on potentially short notice.
  • Organization: Strong project management skills with experience using tools such as Jira, Sprout Social, or similar platforms.

Nice to Have
  • Background in health, science, biotech, or technology sectors.
  • Experience working within a startup or fast-paced, mission-driven company.
  • Existing understanding of genetics, genomics, or personalized medicine - or a genuine enthusiasm to learn.
