Job description

A Joint Opportunity with Canacre Ltd. and Phasor Engineering Inc.

About Us

Canacre Ltd. provides integrated land, right-of-way, environmental, permitting, routing, and stakeholder engagement services across the full project lifecycle, from early development through construction and into operations. Our sole focus on land and environment ensures depth of expertise, accountability, and delivery rigor without distraction from ancillary engineering or design disciplines. Operating with a construction-first mindset, Canacre ensures that land access strategies, regulatory approvals, and environmental commitments are practical, executable, and aligned with how projects are actually built, energized, and maintained.

Phasor Engineering Inc. is a recognized leader in high voltage substation engineering, design, and automation across North America. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Phasor delivers comprehensive engineering services from concept development through commissioning, with deep expertise in transmission and distribution line design, substations, renewable energy systems (solar, wind, BESS), foundations design, and geomatics.

Together, as Quanta Services companies, Canacre and Phasor offer clients a truly integrated suite of infrastructure project services โ€” from land and environmental planning to precision electrical engineering. This joint Business Development Specialist role supports growth across both organizations by leveraging the combined strength of our service offerings.

About the Role

We are seeking a driven and experienced Business Development Specialist to support and advance the growth of both Canacre and Phasor Engineering in the energy sector. While the role will collaborate closely with leadership across both organizations, Phasor Engineering will be the legal employer. In this position, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and developing compelling marketing and proposal materials that showcase the full breadth of our integrated capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, wellโ€‘connected professional with deep knowledge of the energy infrastructure landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Research and identify upcoming proposal and procurement opportunities across the energy sector that align with Canacreโ€™s land, environmental, and project services, as well as opportunities that match Phasorโ€™s engineering capabilities, including substations, BESS, renewable facilities, transmission lines, geomatics, commissioning services, and panel fabrication. Lead introductory meetings and presentations with prospective clients, clearly articulating the value of an integrated land, environment, and engineering approach
  • Collaborate closely with technical leads, project managers, and senior leadership at both Canacre and Phasor to align business development strategies with service capabilities

Proposal & Marketing Support

  • Develop and maintain marketing materials including sell sheets, capability statements, project profiles, and corporate presentations for Canacre, Phasor, and combined service offerings
  • Create and refine client pitch decks tailored to specific opportunities and audiences, highlighting the integrated value of partnering with both firms
  • Ensure all marketing and proposal content is current, accurate, and aligned with each organization's brand standards
  • Monitor and track bid opportunities, coordinate proposal efforts across disciplines, and support the preparation of technical proposals and submission

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and procurement activity within the energy infrastructure sector (transmission, distribution, renewables, substations, pipelines, etc.)
  • Track competitor activity and emerging client needs to inform business development priorities for both Canacre and Phasor
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and client interactions in CRM systems

Provide regular reporting on pipeline status, market insights, and BD activity to leadership at both organizations

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, client relations, and technical writing within a professional services firm operating in engineering, planning, or consulting in the energy sector
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying opportunities and contributing to revenue growth in an infrastructure or energy context
  • Strong understanding of the energy industry landscape, including transmission and distribution, substation development, renewable energy, and land/permitting processes
  • Proven experience developing proposals, presentations, and marketing collateral
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Preferred

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, Environmental Planning, or a related field
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement processes in Canada (e.g., government RFPs, standing offer agreements, utility procurement frameworks)
  • Established network of contacts within the energy, utilities, transmission, or infrastructure development sectors
  • Experience working across multiple business units or in a multi-disciplinary consulting environment
  • Familiarity with high voltage substation development, land and right-of-way processes, or environmental permitting is a strong asset

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • A collaborative, inclusive team culture across two respected industry-leading organizations
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth within the broader Quanta Services network
  • Exposure to a diverse, high-impact portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects

Canacre Ltd. and Phasor Engineering Inc. are equal opportunity employers committed to diversity, inclusion, and a respectful workplace for all. We thank all applicants for their interest; only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
