Purpose of Position:


Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Category Insights Manager.


The Category Insights Manager is responsible for delivering high-impact business insights and analytics to drive growth across high-visibility customers including Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Club channel customers (Costco and BJ’s). This role serves as the primary expert in category, shopper, and consumer insights across these customers, with accountability for turning data into actionable strategies that advance business performance.


This individual will own and lead the use of Scintilla (Charter preferred) across the organization, serving as the central expert for both internal and external applications. The role is responsible for maximizing the return on investment in Scintilla by generating meaningful insights, enabling data-driven decision-making, and building capabilities across teams through training and ongoing support.


The Category Insights Manager partners closely with sales leadership and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, diagnose business challenges, and develop insight-led recommendations that influence strategy and execution. This role plays a critical part in joint business planning, customer engagements, and internal decision-making forums, while maintaining the flexibility to support evolving business priorities across customers and categories as needed.


Accountabilities:

  • Own end-to-end category insights support across Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Club customers, developing and executing insight-led strategies to deliver against sales and profit objectives.
  • Serve as the category and insights lead for the Walmart Zone and Club channel, translating data into clear, actionable strategies that drive business performance.
  • Own Scintilla execution end-to-end, including analytics, insights generation, and reporting, ensuring maximum value and ROI.
  • Act as the Scintilla subject matter expert, enabling sales teams and cross-functional partners through training, coaching, and ongoing support.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality insights, analyses, and category reviews that assess performance, identify opportunities, and translate into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Leverage all relevant data sources to strengthen recommendations and synthesize complex data into concise, compelling narratives that influence decision-making.
  • Design, maintain, and continuously optimize reporting and analytics while measuring and evaluating the impact of key initiatives, incorporating learnings to refine strategies and improve business outcomes.
  • Partner with sales leadership to identify and activate growth opportunities across innovation, assortment, shelving, pricing, and promotion.
  • Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with customer stakeholders to influence execution and drive alignment.
  • Support key business processes including category reviews, Joint Business Planning (JBP), and ad hoc analyses; actively partner with Sales and the Category Insights team, with travel as needed to support customer engagement and business priorities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Planning & Insights, Marketing, Omni Activation, Consumer Insights, and Supply Chain to deliver integrated, insight-led solutions.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities, clearly communicating implications and recommended actions, while effectively prioritizing efforts to focus on the highest-impact work.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner, bringing forward innovative, insight-led ideas to grow the business.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership, curiosity, and initiative, proactively identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve ways of working, and enhance overall team effectiveness.
  • Actively develop capabilities and share best practices to elevate team performance and ensure scalable, consistent execution.
  • Provide flexible support across additional customers or categories as business needs evolve.


Minimum Skills Required:

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 3-5 years relevant business experience in CPG industry with supplier, retailer, or broker.
  • Prior Category Management experience a must.
  • Advanced computer proficiency in Retailer POS, Syndicated and Panel data, Retail Link, Microsoft Excel, Nielsen and/or Circana, and proficiency in PowerPoint as well as other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in utilizing, analyzing, and interpreting Scintilla Charter.
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong data visualization and storytelling capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of space management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attitude with a strong team-orientation.
  • Creative thinker with ability to communicate and present ideas and solutions.
  • Experience working with Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Club Channel Customers preferred.
