Job description

We are seeking a Quality Control Manager to join our federal team based at one of the most iconic buildings in the world - the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. We've supported the Pentagon for nearly two decades now in support of their energy efficiency and sustainability needs, primarily in support of the HVAC, Building Automation Systems including control systems, and other MEP related projects. Reporting in to the Senior Project Manager, this position is responsible for managing the quality control processes on-site to assure that the quality of the work meets or exceeds the project's contractual requirements and maintains the standard of excellence established by the customer.

We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000. Negotiable based on experience.
Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment
Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total)
Travel Required: None. All work is based at the Pentagon
As a Quality Control Manager, you will be:
  • Responsible for the management of the Quality Control system and functions, including the coordination, peer review and documentation of design submissions, inspections, final testing services, and close out activities for the project(s) assigned
  • Works with customer(s) to address and mitigate deficiencies and nonconformance reports in quality of service, contract scope of work, warranty items, or other related issues. Generate and maintain a deficiency log throughout the project.
  • Manages three phases of the quality control process to ensure compliance with performance work statement (PWS)
  • Conducts and participates in the review of design, installation and documentation to ensure that the design and customer's requirements are met on assigned corrective work orders
  • Control and distribute all the company's quality documentation
  • Monitor all quality related activities on the project
  • Coordinate all quality related correspondence with the client and client's representative
  • Communicates and documents significant issues or developments identified during quality control activities and provides recommended process improvements to management to drive efficiencies
  • Resolves and manages client problems and/or conflicts as it pertains to quality control process and maintains open communication with the client including providing regular written and oral reports to ensure satisfaction
  • Generate reports on work performed and deficiencies. Provide daily updates and reports for review and submission to the customer
  • Participate in the weekly progress meeting with the client. Review the meeting minute reports.
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance to account teams and staff and manages resolution of complex problems
  • Work closely with the designer of record (DOR) team onsite and provide all related quality control documents as needed
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards
  • Provide and manage all related quality control documents such as inspection reports, red lines, deficiencies report, final reports, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Construction Quality Control (CQM) experience
  • Qualified to evaluate performance of the three phases of quality control process in various trades including HVAC, Building Automation Systems including control systems, and other MEP related equipment and systems.
  • Implemented, operated, and maintained the quality management system
  • Demonstrated planning, problem solving, data analysis, blueprint/schematic reading, organization, inter-personal, and communication skills with proven leadership skills and decision making abilities
  • Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including Microsoft Office
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification (within 3 months of hire). Active CQM certification preferred
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances and/or badges for projects supported. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with commercial or industrial HVAC equipment and/or Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems
  • Knowledge of the Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Control program standards
  • Experience supporting an occupied facility while under renovation.
  • Experience in operation and maintenance practices in the building service industry.

Preferred Education:
  • Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification
