Job description

Job Title: Quality Control Manager
Location: Pittsfield, MA
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7AM-3.30PM
Pay Range: $90-110k annually
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead quality operations within a specialized vehicle manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for overseeing the Quality Department and ensuring vehicles, components, and manufacturing processes consistently meet established specifications, workmanship standards, and quality requirements from initial production through final vehicle delivery.
The Quality Control Manager will provide hands-on leadership across inspection, testing, documentation, quality systems, and continuous improvement activities. Working closely with Production and Engineering, this individual will identify and resolve quality concerns, strengthen manufacturing processes, and ensure completed vehicles meet all applicable work order and technical requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished manufacturing quality professional who combines strong technical knowledge with proven leadership and a commitment to building a culture of quality throughout the production organization.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, and provide technical direction to Quality Control personnel while establishing priorities and ensuring inspection requirements are completed in accordance with production schedules.
  • Oversee quality inspections and functional testing throughout all stages of vehicle manufacturing, from incoming components and in-process production through final inspection and delivery.
  • Perform and oversee inspections within manufacturing, parking, and on-road environments to validate vehicle quality, functionality, and conformance.
  • Review work orders, specifications, and applicable technical documentation to verify completed vehicles meet defined requirements.
  • Inspect, evaluate, accept, or reject internally manufactured and vendor-supplied components based on established quality requirements and specifications.
  • Partner closely with Production and Engineering teams to investigate quality concerns, coordinate repairs, resolve manufacturing issues, and prevent recurrence.
  • Develop, maintain, implement, and enforce Quality Control policies, procedures, inspection practices, and documentation standards.
  • Manage quality records, inspection documentation, certifications, and other required records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement corrective measures that strengthen product quality, manufacturing consistency, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor quality performance throughout the manufacturing process and proactively address conditions that could impact product conformity or production schedules.
  • Ensure Quality Control activities are performed in accordance with established company safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and quality excellence across Quality, Production, and Engineering teams.

Required Qualifications:
  • 8–10 years of progressive quality experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Quality Control personnel and managing day-to-day quality operations.
  • Experience managing and supporting a Quality Management System (QMS) within a production environment.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply work orders, technical specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience performing or overseeing incoming, in-process, and final product inspections.
  • Proven ability to identify quality deficiencies, investigate manufacturing issues, and implement effective process improvements.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing quality principles, inspection practices, documentation, and product conformity.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills with the ability to establish priorities, provide direction, and hold teams accountable to quality standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Production, Engineering, suppliers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance rigorous quality requirements with production schedules and delivery deadlines.
