Business Development Manager Commercial Construction


Location: New Mexico / Southwest US
Compensation: Base Salary plus bonus
Signing Bonus: $20,000 (inquire for details)

SDV Construction is hiring a Business Development Manager (Construction) to support strategic growth across Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and the broader New Mexico market including some out of state opportunities that align with our performance profile.

This role is ideal for a professional experienced in commercial construction business development, client development, and project pursuit strategysomeone who understands how to identify, qualify, and win the right work in a competitive general contractor environment.

You will manage the full construction project pursuit lifecycle, from early-stage relationship building and market engagement through preconstruction alignment and contract award.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a construction pipeline of qualified commercial projects across Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and surrounding markets
  • Lead project pursuit strategy, including go/no-go decisions, opportunity qualification, and risk analysis
  • Drive client development with owners, developers, architects, engineers, stakeholders, and public agencies throughout New Mexico
  • Coordinate with preconstruction, estimating, and operations teams to align scope, schedule, and pricing strategy
  • Execute winning strategies for CMAR, Design-Build, and Hard Bid opportunities
  • Maintain accurate data in CRM systems, including pipeline tracking, forecasting, and reporting
  • Support proposal development, interviews, and presentation strategy to improve win rates
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of construction business development experience with a general contractor or commercial builder
  • Proven success in construction sales, project pursuit, and winning commercial work
  • Strong knowledge of preconstruction, estimating, and construction delivery methods (CMAR, Design-Build, Hard Bid)
  • Experience with pipeline management and CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
  • Established relationships within Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, or the broader Southwest construction market preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Primary focus on projects within Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and regional New Mexico markets
  • From time to time, SDV selectively pursues strategic travel opportunities across the Southwest when they align with our core markets and client relationships
