Estimator – General Contractor (Industrial & Residential Projects)

Our client is a well-established General Contractor operating across the Greater Montreal Area, recognized for delivering high-quality industrial and residential projects. With a growing portfolio of new builds, expansions, and renovations, the company values precision, collaboration, and innovation in every stage of construction.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Estimator to join the team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for industrial and residential projects, working closely with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure competitive and profitable proposals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for new construction and renovation projects in both industrial and residential sectors.

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.

  • Source and negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Review tender documents and ensure all bid requirements are met.

  • Assist in value engineering and provide cost-saving alternatives.

  • Collaborate with project management and site teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control during project execution.

  • Maintain and update a database of historical project costs, unit prices, and supplier/subcontractor information.

  • Participate in post-bid reviews and handover meetings.

Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Construction Estimating, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3–7 years of estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor.

  • Proven experience in industrial and/or residential projects.

  • Proficient with estimating software (such as Planswift, Bid2Win, or equivalent) and MS Excel.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Bilingual (English/French)
