Is there a job that pays you to watch movies?

A Consignment Director typically does not get paid to watch movies; their role involves managing consignment inventory and sales. However, some entertainment-related jobs, such as film reviewers or content evaluators, may involve watching movies as part of their duties and can be paid positions. These roles often require specific skills, such as critical analysis or familiarity with media evaluation tools.

What is the difference between Consignment Director vs Sales Manager?

AspectConsignment DirectorSales Manager
CredentialsExperience in retail, inventory management, and sales strategiesSales experience, often with a focus on team leadership and client relations
Work EnvironmentRetail stores, consignment shops, or luxury boutiquesCorporate offices, retail outlets, or client sites
Industry UsageCommon in retail, luxury goods, and art sectorsWidely used across various industries including retail, technology, and services

The Consignment Director primarily manages inventory and sales strategies within consignment settings, focusing on partnerships and inventory flow. In contrast, a Sales Manager oversees sales teams and client relationships across broader industries. While both roles require sales experience, the Consignment Director specializes in consignment operations, making their roles distinct in scope and focus.

How much do consignors typically make?

Consignment directors or consignors typically earn a commission-based income, often ranging from 20% to 50% of the sale price of items they sell. Their earnings depend on sales volume, the value of items, and the commission structure of the consignment shop or platform. Successful consignors with high sales can make several thousand dollars per month, especially if they manage multiple or high-value items.

What kind of jobs in media bring in $150,000 a year?

In media, high-paying roles such as media directors, senior producers, or executive producers often earn $150,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience and leadership responsibilities. These positions typically require strong project management skills, industry knowledge, and sometimes advanced degrees or certifications. Salary levels can vary based on company size, location, and individual expertise.

What does a consignment director do?

A consignment director oversees the management and sales of items on consignment, coordinating with vendors, setting pricing strategies, and ensuring inventory is properly displayed and sold. They often analyze sales data, develop marketing plans, and maintain relationships with consignors to maximize revenue.

Job description

Description:

Build Relationships, Source Inventory, and Grow Your Career

Boater's World Marine Centers is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Consignment Sales Consultant to join our team in Grand Prairie, TX.

This role is focused on helping boat owners sell their vessels while supporting one of the dealership's most important functions—bringing quality inventory into our sales pipeline. You'll work directly with sellers, buyers, and dealership leadership to help manage the consignment process from the initial conversation through final sale.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, following up on opportunities, building relationships, and staying organized in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role comes from consistency, communication, and a willingness to put in the effort to keep deals moving forward.

This is not a position where you'll simply wait for opportunities to come to you. The most successful candidates will be proactive, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple conversations and leads at once.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Competitive compensation with strong commission earning potential
  • Opportunity to play a direct role in dealership inventory growth and sales success
  • Work with boat owners, buyers, and a variety of marine products every day
  • Established dealership with strong brand recognition and consistent inventory demand
  • Supportive leadership team and structured sales process
  • Clear opportunities for advancement and long-term career growth within Boater's World Marine Centers and the Outdoor Network family of companies

What You'll Be Doing

Seller Outreach & Consignment Acquisition

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for boat owners interested in consigning boats, trailers, and marine equipment
  • Proactively reach out to prospective sellers through outbound calls, inbound leads, email follow-ups, referrals, and in-person conversations
  • Clearly explain the consignment process, pricing strategy, timelines, and expectations
  • Build urgency and maintain momentum to move sellers from initial interest to signed consignment agreements
  • Manage a high-volume pipeline of seller conversations and opportunities

Deal Management & Pipeline Execution

  • Track leads from first contact through intake and final sale
  • Maintain consistent follow-up to prevent deals from stalling
  • Coordinate with sales leadership and management teams on pricing and inventory strategy
  • Support buyers and sellers throughout the transaction process

Inventory Coordination & Organization

  • Evaluate incoming consignment units and assist with pricing, condition notes, and market positioning
  • Ensure inventory details are accurate, complete, and entered correctly into dealership systems
  • Monitor inventory status across multiple active listings and stages of the sales process

Customer Experience & Administrative Accuracy

  • Deliver a professional, responsive experience to both sellers and buyers
  • Answer questions confidently and resolve issues quickly
  • Ensure all contracts, documentation, and records are completed accurately and in compliance with dealership standards

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Service, and Leadership teams to support dealership growth goals
  • Contribute to a high-energy, execution-focused team environment
Requirements:

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience in high-volume sales, inside sales, outside sales, hospitality, call centers, collections, or commission-based roles
  • Comfortable with outbound outreach, follow-up, and pipeline management
  • Marine, automotive, RV, equipment, or consignment experience is a plus, but not required

Skills & Traits

  • High energy, self-motivated, and comfortable making frequent outbound calls
  • Strong communication, persuasion, and relationship-building skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously
  • Goal-driven and motivated by commission-based earnings
  • Comfortable using CRM systems, inventory tools, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and follow-through

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field is a plus

About Us
