Job description

We're seeking a senior Procurement / Supply Chain leader to drive service, cost, inventory, and supplier performance across a multi-site, high-mix manufacturing division. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to strengthen supply continuity, accelerate throughput, and deliver sustainable productivity and cash-flow improvements.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead division-wide strategic sourcing and supply chain initiatives to achieve service, cost, inventory, and working-capital goals.
  • Drive supplier performance improvements (quality, delivery, responsiveness) using scorecards, assessments, and corrective action plans; build grow/maintain/exit strategies for critical suppliers.
  • Lead commodity strategy and supplier consolidation across key categories (e.g., machining, castings/forgings, fabrication/sheet metal, electronics, PCB/PCBA, bearings, outside services), including low-cost region sourcing.
  • Own key supplier negotiations and execute long-term agreements with appropriate commercial terms and flow-down requirements.
  • Implement scalable supply chain processes and tools (e.g., S&OP/MRP discipline, consignment/SMI, Kanban) to improve availability and working capital.
  • Partner with Operations/CI teams to embed Lean / Six Sigma practices that improve turnaround time, throughput, and labor productivity.
  • Lead or sponsor VA/VE cost-out initiatives and cross-functional projects supporting business unit commitments.
  • Influence and align stakeholders in a matrixed, multi-site environment; provide leadership and development to supply chain teams (direct and/or dotted-line, as applicable).

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in strategic sourcing, procurement, and/or supply chain within a manufacturing environment; multi-site/divisional experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in managing global supplier relationships required
  • Demonstrated track record delivering cost reduction, supplier performance improvement, and inventory/working-capital optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing supply base and commodity sourcing; supplier consolidation and low-cost region sourcing experience highly valued.
  • Lean/TPS/Kaizen and/or Six Sigma experience (certification a plus).
  • ERP experience required (Oracle or similar).
  • Comfort operating in a results-driven, highly matrixed organization; strong negotiation, analytics, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (role requires frequent travel).
  • Due to the nature of the UPT business units' programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the US and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs. .
