Job description

Position: Manager, Growth and Engagement
Status: Exempt
Initiative: Conexus Indiana
Reports to: Senior Director, Growth
JOB OVERVIEW:
Conexus Indiana's vision is that Indiana will be recognized as the global leader in Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics (AML). An initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Conexus pursues that vision by leading collaborations between industry, academic, and public sector partners to grow Indiana's AML economy, working through its board and council member executives and their organizations, which include over 150 significant Indiana companies, colleges and universities, and philanthropic foundations.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Growth, the Manager, Growth and Engagement helps drive the growth of the organization and the AML economy it serves. The role centers on three connected priorities: deepening engagement with current Conexus Indiana Advanced Industries Council partners; supporting revenue growth through new partner and sponsorship development; and strengthening AML across the state through economic development, from in-state expansions to supporting the recruitment out-of-state companies that strengthen the supply chain. It is a visible, high-impact role with real room to grow toward broader leadership in development and economic growth.
This is a role for someone who wants their work to matter. Success calls for strong relationship building skills with partners and stakeholders across the industry, public, academic, philanthropic, and non-profit sectors, strong public speaking, and the ability to independently manage assigned work within established priorities and direction. Above all, it calls for a real desire to see Indiana's advanced manufacturing and logistics sectors, and the state as a whole, become more successful.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partner Engagement. Continuous engagement with partners across industry, philanthropy, and academia keeps Conexus Indiana focused on the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing AML, and helps recruit new partners who recognize the organization's impact.
    • Maintain regular, personal outreach to each assigned Council partner, preparing them ahead of convenings and following up afterward.
    • Track the commitments, introductions, and next steps from partner interactions through to completion.
    • Capture the challenges and priorities partners raise and route them to the right Conexus teams.
    • Enlist engaged partners as advocates who help recruit new companies into Conexus.
  • Revenue Generation and Growth. Growing industry revenue is a strategic priority for Conexus Indiana. This role carries defined revenue goals and is directly responsible for making the ask and closing new and expanded funding from partners and sponsors.
    • Personally solicit and secure new partner investment, working prospects from first contact through a committed ask.
    • Make the case to current partners for expanded investment and close that additional revenue.
    • Ask for and close sponsorship support, developing the proposals and packages and making the ask directly to prospective sponsors.
    • Carry and deliver against the defined annual revenue goals set for this role, tracking progress toward target.
    • Maintain an active pipeline of prospective partners and sponsors and track progress and next steps in Salesforce
  • Economic Development. Continued growth of Indiana's AML sector is critical, as it uniquely provides meaningful careers to Hoosiers across the state. This role supports in-state expansions, targets out-of-state companies that strengthen the supply chain, and does this work in partnership with public sector leaders and agencies.
    • Assemble the research, briefing materials, and follow-up that help Indiana AML companies expand in-state and support the recruitment of out-of-state companies to Indiana.
    • Partner with public sector agencies, industry groups, and non-governmental organizations to advance this work and support Conexus engagement with state and federal stakeholders.
    • Conduct research on prospective companies, industry trends, and supply-chain opportunities to support company targeting and recruitment
    • Prepare briefing materials and follow-up for economic development meetings and prospect engagement
  • Program Operations and Delivery Support. Reliable operations keep the growth function running smoothly. This role maintains the data, planning, and coordination behind partner engagement, revenue, and economic development work.
    • Keep partner, growth, and development data accurate and current in Salesforce.
    • Build and maintain the timelines, milestones, and documentation that keep the growth team on track.
    • Prepare regular reports and updates on partner engagement, revenue pipeline, and economic development activity
  • Perform other duties as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • 3-5 years of relevant and progressive employment experience in fundraising, development, partnerships, business or economic development, or project management.
  • Previous nonprofit development or fundraising experience is preferred but not required, as is experience in a membership or partnership role, a chamber of commerce, or an economic development organization.
  • A demonstrated track record of directly soliciting and closing revenue, sponsorships, or funding, and of meeting defined revenue or fundraising goals.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, able to establish trust with executives across the industry, public, academic, philanthropic, and non-profit sectors.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, comfortable representing Conexus Indiana to partners, groups, and senior executives.
  • Independent motivation and a self-driven, goal-oriented work ethic, effective both with general direction and on a team.
  • A genuine desire to see Indiana's advanced manufacturing and logistics sectors, and the state as a whole, become more successful.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Proficiency in Salesforce required. Experience with project management software such as Smartsheet desirable.
