Villa Restaurant Group - Quick service restaurants (Villa Italian Kitchen, South Philly Cheesesteaks and Fries, Green Leaf's and Bananas, Mo' Burger, Far East, Asian Chao, Tony + Benny's, Melt Shop etc.) and 40North full service restaurants (Piattino, Office Tavern Grill, NOM Mexican Table + Tequila Bar, Steelworks Wind Creek Casino, Blackhorse Tavern & Pub and Town Bar & Kitchen) is a multi-brand, multi-concept global restaurant group specializing in full service restaurants, quick serve restaurants with corporate and franchise operations.

The Co-Manager at the Shake Shack Quick Service Restaurant in Newark Airport plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for delivering an exceptional guest experience. The Co-Manager will work alongside the Multi-Unit General Manager to lead and motivate the team, maintain high food quality and safety standards, and achieve business goals.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to recruit, train, and develop a team of dedicated and enthusiastic employees.

  • Lead by example, fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and feedback to team members to enhance their skills and performance.

Operations Management:

  • Assist in overseeing day-to-day restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, staffing levels, and equipment maintenance.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations, maintaining a safe and clean environment for guests and employees.

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with appropriate departments to ensure adequate supplies are available.

Guest Experience:

  • Uphold Shake Shack's commitment to exceptional guest service by ensuring all team members provide friendly, efficient, and personalized service.

  • Address guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner, striving to exceed their expectations.

Food Quality and Safety:

  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and taste by adhering to Shake Shack's recipes and cooking procedures.

  • Monitor food preparation and ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Financial Performance:

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to achieve sales targets and control costs, including labor and food expenses.

  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to drive revenue growth and improve restaurant profitability.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports related to sales, labor, inventory, and other key performance indicators.

  • Maintain organized records, including employee files, training documentation, and operational records.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in restaurant management, preferably in a quick-service or airport setting.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

  • Basic computer skills for reporting and communication purposes.

  • Knowledge of HotSchedules, Paycom and Oracle a plus.

  • Must be able to pass airport background.
