STUDENT LEADERSHIP EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEMBER

Division: Support Services Department: Center for Student Engagement Experience: Entry-level

Members of the Student Leadership Executive Council serve as elected student leaders who represent the student body, lead campus initiatives, and support the development and engagement of student clubs and organizations. They partner with Student Affairs and the Center for Student Engagement to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and empowering campus environment while developing career competencies through their specific council roles.

Responsibilities and Career Competencies:

  1. Attend and contribute to all SLC meetings, trainings, and major campus events - C, TW, P, CSD, CT, CTR, L
  2. Represent student perspectives to faculty, staff, and administration - C, TW, P
  3. Lead or support student-led initiatives and events - C, TW, P, CSD, CTR, L
  4. Collaborate with clubs, organizations, and other SLC members - C, TW, CTR
  5. Maintain regular communication with the SLC advisor and council members - C, TW
  6. Carry out the duties of your elected Executive Council role - C, TW, P, L
  7. Chief Visionary Officer (CVO): Provides leadership and strategic direction, communicates vision to stakeholders, and promotes innovation and engagement across student groups - C, TW, P, CSD, CT, CTR, L, T
  8. Scriber Specialist: Records and archives meeting materials, manages internal communications and document editing, and supports writing and training in documentation best practices - C, TW, P, CTR, L, T
  9. Financial Navigator: Oversees budget creation and financial planning, maintains accurate financial records, and hosts financial literacy workshops while supporting club funding - P, CSD, CT, L, C, TW, T, CTR
  10. Activity Alchemist - Traditional Events: Leads planning and execution of signature annual events, manages logistics and budgets, and evaluates event success with marketing - C, TW, P, CSD, CTR, L, T
  11. Activity Alchemist - Specialty Events: Develops and implements unique or culturally themed events, collaborates on new initiatives, and ensures inclusive programming through feedback - C, TW, P, CSD, CTR, L, T
  12. Outreach Social Strategist: Creates and manages digital content and social media campaigns, tracks engagement, and ensures consistent branding across platforms - C, TW, L, P, T, CTR, CT
  13. Engagement Enthusiast: Leads recruitment and retention strategies, maintains membership data, builds partnerships, and plans outreach to grow student involvement - C, TW, P, CSD, CTR, L, T
  14. Academic & Career Catalyst: Advocates for academic success, hosts tutoring and career development events, and builds connections with faculty and career services - C, TW, P, CSD, CTR, L, T
  15. Wellness Warrior: Promotes health and wellness programs, advocates for mental health awareness, and assists with fitness and recreation initiatives - C, TW, P, CSD, CTR, L, T, CT
  16. Student Empowerment Specialist: Serves as liaison between students and administration, voices student concerns, and encourages participation in governance and advocacy - C, TW, P, CTR, L, CT

Education Requirements: Must be a full-time University of Pikeville student in good academic standing (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5).

Elected students for CVO, Financial Navigator, and Outreach Social Strategist must have at least one year of prior campus leadership experience (e.g., club officer, RA, ambassador, SGA/CAB member).

Preferred Skills: Experience with leadership roles, strong communication, digital content creation, event planning, financial literacy, student advocacy, and wellness promotion. Familiarity with Word, Canva, social media, and new technologies is beneficial.

Work Schedule: Varies depending on workload; includes meetings, events, and occasional evening/weekend commitments.

Work Conditions: Variable indoor/outdoor environments; potential exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, and event-related conditions.

Physical Demands: Keyboarding, reaching/handling, stooping/kneeling, pushing/pulling up to 30 lbs, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing as needed.
