Both roles require technical certifications and often work in overlapping environments, but their core responsibilities differ in scope and focus.

What are some common challenges Computer Systems Engineers face when working on cross-functional projects?

Computer Systems Engineers often collaborate with software developers, network specialists, and IT support teams on complex projects. A common challenge is ensuring seamless integration between hardware and software components, which requires clear communication and thorough documentation. Balancing competing priorities from different stakeholders while maintaining system performance and security can also be demanding. Proactively addressing these challenges involves regular team meetings, detailed planning, and flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements.

What are Computer Systems Engineers?

Computer Systems Engineers are professionals who design, develop, and maintain computer systems and networks for organizations. They integrate hardware and software to ensure that systems function efficiently and meet users’ needs. Their work involves troubleshooting system issues, optimizing performance, and implementing security measures. Computer Systems Engineers often collaborate with other IT specialists and may also be involved in system upgrades or new deployment projects.

What Is a Computer Systems Engineer?

As a computer systems engineer, you test network information to find gaps and get ahead of potential system issues and provide solutions. Your job duties may include collecting and testing information, performing backup and recovery procedures, and training other employees on best data security practices. Depending on the size of your company, you may be tasked with creating a long-term technology plan to ensure that workstations and business technology remain up-to-date, secure, and able to meet business needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Computer Systems Engineer, and why are they important?

Job description

Overview

The Opportunity

As a GTM Systems Engineer, you will be a key technical contributor helping to design, build, and operate the Salesforce-centered AI-powered GTM systems ecosystem at ConstructConnect, with a specific focus on AI-assisted development, Salesforce APIs, and modern CI/CD practices.

You will work closely with the GTM Systems Team and Sr. GTM Systems Engineer to implement scalable, resilient solutions that support our GTM organizations (Sales, Customer Success, Support, Marketing, Finance). You will use AI tools to accelerate discovery, solution design, configuration, and testing, while maintaining a high bar for quality, security, and maintainability across our environments.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about Salesforce engineering, APIs and integrations, and AI-driven productivity, and who enjoys working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment with clear growth into a senior engineering path.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build solutions within the GTM Systems team, partnering closely with the ager, GTM Systems Engineering to execute on the GTM systems roadmap and AI-first architecture.
  • Design, configure, and maintain Salesforce as the core GTM platform-objects, fields, automations (Flow & AI), validation rules, page layouts, record types, profiles vs permission sets, and integrations.
  • Understand the system schema across HubSpot, Zuora, Planhat, BigQuery, and DBAmp ensuring clean data flows and consistent business logic across the GTM stack.
  • Translate business requirements from Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Support, Product, and Finance into robust technical designs, implementation plans, and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Own and improve critical GTM workflows such as lead lifecycle, routing, opportunity and account structures, renewals, and customer health signals.
  • Build and optimize automations that reduce manual work for GTM teams while maintaining data quality and governance.
  • Partner with the Manager, GTM Systems Engineering to embed AI into GTM workflows-helping design, prototype, and implement AI-powered use cases (e.g., agents in Salesforce, next-best actions, workflow copilots).
  • Implement and maintain integrations with AI using APIs (e.g., Glean Agent calls, Claude messaging), including data contracts, triggers, and guardrails.
  • Contribute to engineering rigor and Agile best practices and ceremonies within the GTM Systems team
  • Use sandboxing, automated testing, and peer review for configuration and code.
  • Participate in CI/CD and release management practices to ensure safe, predictable deployments.
  • Help define and maintain documentation for configurations, integrations, and architecture decisions.
  • This job description in no way implies that the duties listed here are the only ones that team members can be required to perform.
Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team

  • 3+ years of experience in GTM / revenue / business systems roles with deep, hands-on Salesforce administration and architecture experience.
  • Practical additional experience with at least two of: HubSpot, Marketo, Zuora, Salesforce CPQ, DealHub, Planhat, Totango Gainsight, Gong, Dialpad or similar GTM platforms.
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex GTM workflows (lead lifecycle, routing, opportunity pipelines, account structures, renewals, customer health, quote-to-cash).
  • Strong integration experience (APIs, middleware, or iPaaS) connecting Salesforce and adjacent GTM tools; comfort debugging data sync and mapping issues.
  • Experience building and maintaining automations at scale while preserving governance and data quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into system designs with autonomy; you ask sharp questions and propose options with marked tradeoffs.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled workflows in GTM systems (e.g., copilots, agents, intelligent routing, recommendations) or strong interest and aptitude to ramp quickly.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Kanban ways of working and collaborating within a product operating model.
  • Capable communication skills-concise in documentation, clear in design reviews, and comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field-or equivalent practical experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, and working on a computer for extended periods. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • Team members are expected to maintain a dedicated and ergonomically appropriate remote workspace.
  • Team members who live within commuting distance of one of our office locations (Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky or Atlanta, Georgia) are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence as determined by the team or department.
  • All team members must reside and perform their work within the United States.
