Systems Engineer
Location: Atlanta, Georgia (On-site)
Role Overview
The Systems Engineer will serve as the primary interface between the engineering team and project management. This role involves overseeing and coordinating the work of technical teams on systems projects, ensuring successful design and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a background in systems engineering and experience transitioning into technical project management, with the ability to translate complex engineering work into actionable plans and schedules for various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main interface between engineering work and the project manager, including communication with customers and internal leadership.
  • Translate technical efforts into program management products and communicate project status to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage project schedules using MS Project, including status updates, resource leveling, and critical path analysis.
  • Conduct financial planning to ensure projects have the correct number of personnel and an appropriate cost structure.
  • Review projects to ensure quality standards are met and enforce system and software development processes.
  • Facilitate system requirements gathering and analysis with stakeholders.
  • Conduct system design synthesis, translating requirements into physical architectures.
  • Lead agile development teams, providing technical direction and support.

Required Qualifications
Experience:
  • 5-9 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 3-7 years of related experience with a Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • 0-4 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in a relevant technical field.
  • Proven experience leading agile development teams, specifically with scrum-based development.
  • Experience in developing and managing project schedules with MS Project, including status, resource leveling, and critical path.
  • Experience with financial planning and tracking financial data for projects.
  • Experience leading technical development projects covering both systems engineering and software development.

Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of C/C++.
  • Experience with systems design and developing system requirements.
  • Experience with the development of embedded systems software.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using MBSE with Cameo.
  • Experience with Atlassian products (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience with GitLab or similar configuration management tools.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers on both technical and project management matters.
  • Experience integrating multiple subsystems in complex systems.
  • Familiarity with Tactical Data Links or Electronic Warfare.

Travel requirements for this position are between 10% and 25%.
