Job description

We are seeking a Senior OpenVMS Legacy Systems Engineer to support and maintain mission-critical enterprise applications running on OpenVMS platforms. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with deep expertise in OpenVMS, DCL scripting, Oracle Rdb, and legacy application support who enjoy maintaining highly reliable production environments while contributing to modernization initiatives.

Experience with CorVision is highly preferred. Candidates with strong OpenVMS development experience and exposure to similar legacy application frameworks are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain enterprise applications running on OpenVMS.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and enhance DCL scripts and batch processes.
  • Support and maintain applications developed using CorVision or comparable OpenVMS-based application frameworks.
  • Administer and optimize Oracle Rdb databases and legacy data integrations.
  • Analyze and resolve production issues with minimal downtime.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, database, and business teams to ensure platform stability and performance.
  • Document system architecture, operational procedures, recovery processes, and support documentation.
  • Participate in legacy modernization initiatives, application migration, and data conversion projects.
  • Assist in knowledge transfer and documentation to support long-term platform sustainability.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience supporting OpenVMS production environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with DCL scripting.
  • Experience supporting legacy enterprise applications on OpenVMS.
  • Strong experience with Oracle Rdb (RDB).
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a mission-critical production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CorVision.
  • Experience with Oracle Database and Oracle SQL.
  • Experience supporting legacy manufacturing, logistics, financial, or warehouse management systems.
  • Experience participating in modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
  • Familiarity with DEC/VAX, HP OpenVMS, RMS Files, batch processing, and legacy integrations.
