Job description

Medical Records Technician

The Medical Records Technician is a key member of Dover Behavioral Health System who will ensure completion of all Coding, ongoing correspondence activities related to patients' health records, and to maintain the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of patient information. Foster high levels of accuracy and ensuring that all medical records are analyzed and coded in an appropriate, timely, and accurate manner. Analyze patient charts for the correct ICD-10 code and enter the final diagnosis in the patient automated computer system for billing; communicates with physicians and corrects documentation issues as needed. Work closely with the Business Office and Utilization Review and provide information regarding the medical records and educate staff regarding coding changes and issues. Participate in all Precyse Medicare Quarterly Audits and maintain the Corporate Goal of 95% or above. Print all dictated reports from the transcriptionist service and electronic records appropriately and retrieve discharge charts from all units on a daily basis (excluding weekends and holidays).

Minimum: High School Diploma. Must be a nationally certified medical records coder (or working towards Certification). Preferred: Associates Degree preferred.
