Briefly explain job details

CMT Technical Services is seeking an entry levelย Construction Materials Field Technician to support construction projects throughout the Denver, Colorado area. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys working outdoors, performing field testing, and ensuring construction materials meet project specifications and quality standards.


Compensation: $22-24/hour (DOE)
Location: Denver, Colorado
FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Full-time; hours may vary based on project demands


What you'll be doing:
  • Perform routine field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications

  • Conduct field tests on materials including:

    • Fresh concrete (slump, air, temperature, cylinders)

    • Soil compaction and density testing

    • Aggregate sampling and observation

  • Accurately document test results and complete daily reports and datasheets

  • Communicate professionally with contractors, project managers, inspectors, and internal teams

  • Maintain and safely operate testing equipment in accordance with company procedures

  • Support additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on project needs


What you have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum 2+ years of construction materials testing experience in the field

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and clean MVR

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer reporting tools

  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
