Are you a detail-oriented technical professional who enjoys turning field data into accurate drawings, maps, and insights that support real-world operations? We are #hiring a Land & Environment Drafting Technician based in Colorado to support our aggregate and ready-mix operations through drafting, mapping, drone surveying, and site planning. Reporting to the Land & Environment Manager, you will create and maintain drawing files using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software for aggregate pits and ready-mix concrete plant sites across Colorado and Texas. You will also conduct drone flights to gather accurate data that supports site planning, operations, and decision-making.
What you will be doing
  • Prepare technical drawings and site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Maintain standard site drawings, records, and drawing archives for BURNCO locations
  • Conduct aerial drone surveys and support the collection of accurate field data
  • Develop exploration plans and drill hole layouts to support project and site planning
  • Map drill hole log information and create geological 3D models, surfaces, and cross-sections
  • Complete quantity takeoffs for operational, planning, and reporting purposes
  • Calculate stockpile and reservoir volumes using appropriate survey and mapping data
  • Support mine progression planning through drafting, mapping, and technical analysis
  • Coordinate site staking, utility locates, and exploration activities with internal teams and external partners
  • Stay current on technology, tools, and best practices in mapping, surveying, and modelling
  • Supervise and coordinate third-party surveyors and contractors as required
  • Support additional land and environment assignments as needed

What we would like from you
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in drafting, civil design, construction materials, or a related technical field
  • A post-secondary technical diploma in GIS, geomatics, engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of survey techniques, field data collection, and related methodologies
  • Familiarity with GIS data and mapping tools such as Global Mapper
  • Experience in the aggregate industry or drone pilot experience is considered an asset
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to high-quality standards and pride in your work
  • Positive attitude with a collaborative approach to working as part of the BURNCO team
  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive as roles, responsibilities, and business needs evolve

Location and other key details:
  • This is a full-time permanent position based out of our Colorado Corporate Office
  • The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to assigned plant locations and construction job sites
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal background check as part of the pre-employment process

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000
