Job description

This is directly for DISA under the Enterprise Integration and Innovation Center (EIIC) branch that creates Cybersecurity controls (STIGs) for DISA's Risk Management Executive (RME) Risk Management Framework (RMF) Mission. All other accredited agencies and subsequent systems must follow for authority to operate (ATO). We are seeking a highly motivated Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer to assist in analyzing the development and potential applications of AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This role will be critical in ensuring the successful delivery of projects and programs, ultimately supporting the warfighter.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Work with DISA and industry personnel to review and develop a comprehensive understanding of AI technologies.

  • Stay current on the latest advancements in AI technology and research.

  • Develop and implement AI models for various applications, including machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.

  • Evaluate the performance of AI models and identify areas for improvement.

  • Initiate, coordinate, and monitor technical and functional activities, including strategic planning, program analysis, quality assurance, configuration management, workflow management, and productivity assessment.

  • Attend program reviews, integrated process teams, and general outreach activities to promote DISA initiatives and obtain Combatant Command (COCOM) or other partner participation.

  • Provide technical support for pathfinders, proofs-of-concept, and prototypes in various areas.

  • Develop specific program and individual project-level management activities, process improvement recommendations, technology evaluation plans, procedures, metrics, and associated documentation.

  • Generate reports, compose memos, transcribe notes, research topics, and create presentations.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is desired.

  • Strong knowledge and experience with emerging cybersecurity technologies.

  • Proven ability to analyze technology, create reports, and deliver briefings.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable with public speaking.

  • Self-motivated and collaborative, with a track record of delivering results promptly.

Certifications
  • DoD 8140 and industry certifications may be required upon starting (ex. CEH, Sec+)

Security Clearance
  • Due to U.S. Government security clearance requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain an interim Secret security clearance prior to the start date by successfully completing the required U.S. government background investigation.
  • Top Secret, or SCI clearance may be required

Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.)
  • Must be within commuting distance of Fort Meade and able to work on-site on a hybrid schedule. Applicants that apply outside of commuting distance will not be considered.

$130,000 - $150,000 a year
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity. The posted range is appropriate for a typical candidate meeting, at a minimum, all the core requirements of the position.
