Compounding Supervisor

The Compounding Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Compounding Department. You will supervise, work side by side with the compounders, material handlers and sanitizers to ensure batching schedules are completed efficiently within specifications and they coincide with the needs of the production department. This is not a desk only position, this role does require physical floor presence and active participation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead by influence, teamwork, and example—not by command or title.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Owns compounding KPIs such as batch right‐first‐time, deviations, and rework.
  • Encourage open communication and problem‐solving at the team level.
  • Comfortable working side‐by‐side with technicians and supporting production needs.
  • Organize daily compounding activities to ensure priorities, materials, and people are aligned.
  • Support, coach, and mentor compounding technicians to build skill, confidence, and ownership.
  • Submitting work order in a timely manner for equipment needing repaired or updated.
  • Ensuring Team Members have proper tools to perform job.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained in full compliance with GMP requirements.

Hands‐On Compounding & Operations

  • Perform cosmetic compounding and batching according to approved formulas, batch records, and SOPs.
  • Spends most of the shift on the production floor actively compounding, supporting technicians, and troubleshooting.
  • Operate PIT (powered industrial trucks) to move raw materials, finished batches, and equipment safely.
  • Assist with weighing, staging, charging, mixing, and transferring of raw materials.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness of compounding areas and equipment.
  • Verify proper documentation, lot traceability, and material usage during batching.
  • Support production schedules by maintaining efficient, organized workflows.
  • Physically capable of standing, lifting materials, and working in a manufacturing environment.

Technical Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and investigate process, quality, and compounding issues using root cause analysis.
  • Analyze batch data, trends, deviations, and process parameters to determine factual causes.
  • Develop and recommend countermeasures based on data, not assumptions.
  • Contribute ideas to improve safety, consistency, yield, and efficiency.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of processing/ batching equipment with the ability to maintain all settings within tolerance (temperatures, pressures, revolutions per minute, rates, etc.)
  • Experience working with hot pours, emulsion, and cold products
  • Establish and maintain accurate production records
  • Must be team oriented and self-directed
  • Read, write, and speak English; receive, and provide clear instructions
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be committed to quality, safety and communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment
  • Must be able to work overtime and some weekends, as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or scientific education preferred.
  • 2-3 Years of Leading and managing teams.
  • Experience leading or supporting teams through collaboration and influence.
  • Hands‐on experience within a Manufacturing Facility.
  • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification (or ability to become certified).
  • Organization, documentation, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
