Aircraft Composite Repair Mechanic (Associate or Experienced) - F/A-18

Company:

Boeing Aerospace Operations

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for an Aircraft Composite Repair Technician (Associate or Experienced) to join our F/A-18 E/F Ailerons team in Jacksonville, FL.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform bonding of metallic or nonmetallic materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using products and processes
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specification sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings
  • Determine equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as graphite, fiberglass, plastic, epoxy resins, rubber and similar materials
  • Plan, lay-out and build adhesive bonded assemblies of metallic and non-metallic composite materials
  • Build composites and metal parts into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding, curing in press ovens, and autoclaves
  • Lay out, pre-fit, assemble and perform lay-up on a variety of metal-to-metal and composite bonded assemblies Fits core in where close tolerances are required for installation of details for completion of assembly
  • Perform vacuum bagging
  • Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or uses templates
  • Select tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions
  • Execute all required paperwork in connection with assigned duties
  • Use and operate ground support equipment as needed.
  • Work with little or no supervision and accomplish assignments, prioritizing first-time quality
  • Interface effectively with members of management, other departments, and co-workers
  • Follow all safety procedures and specifications
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in an aircraft composite repair role
  • 3+ years of experience in aircraft mechanical composite component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts
  • 3+ years of experience in aircraft structural modifications and repair
  • 3+ years of experience with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, micro bonder, vacuum gauges, heat blankets
  • 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, manuals specification sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings
  • 3+ years of experience with prioritizing workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of work-related experience as listed above
  • Experience presenting to leadership, internal and external customers
  • Experience with developing and maintaining partnerships with customers, stakeholders and peers
