The Component Engineer is responsible for evaluating and qualifying new commercial off-the-shelf components for SCIEX Mass Spectrometry instruments, ensuring they meet design, compliance, and supply requirements. They assess technology, supplier capability, lifecycle, and availability, then baseline approved components in the Product Data Management system. This role supports both new product development and existing manufacturing to maintain On-Time Delivery, collaborating closely with R&D and Supply Chain teams to address component needs and issues.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Component Engineering and is part of the R&D team located in Concord, Ontario, Canada and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support New Product Introductions (NPI): Investigate, source, and recommend Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) components, establishing performance baselines for release. Collaborate with designers and suppliers to ensure specifications fully capture the intended design requirements for instrument launch.

  • Manage Existing Production Components: Identify and recommend replacement components that maintain compatibility and intended functionality of original parts. Partner with cross-functional teams-including R&D and Supply Chain-to qualify new components and ensure continuity of supply and on-time delivery.

  • Conduct Bill of Material (BOM) Assessments: Evaluate product lifecycles for both new development projects and existing production lines to support long-term sustainability and performance.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience as a Component Engineer within an R&D environment.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Product Data Management (PDM) systems; experience with Enovia 3D Experience is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of change management processes for releasing new components and updating Bills of Material (BOM).

  • Certification: Eligible for Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Not applicable.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Circuit Design Experience: At least 3 years of experience as an electrical or electronic circuit designer.

  • Software Skills: Working knowledge of AutoCAD; Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications.

The annual salary range for this role is $111,333 - $122,500 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
