This is a full-time, onsite role at our Bentonville, AR office. This position is not eligible for remote work.
The Senior Software Engineer will lead the delivery of scoped features and through collaborative teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable software solutions while integrating AI and machine learning components. The position requires strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving to meet user needs and quality standards. The engineer will support lifecycle execution, mentor peers, and collaborate across functions to drive innovation and operational excellence within a dynamic development environment.
 
About the team:
The OMS Engineering Team develops and maintains Walmart’s Order Management System, a vital platform managing purchase orders and inventory transfers across the supply chain. The team leads modernization efforts through cloud migration and AI innovation to improve scalability, automation, and efficiency. Focused on delivering reliable, scalable solutions, the team optimizes inventory flow, reduces costs, and enhances supplier collaboration. Supporting Walmart, Sam’s Club, and international markets, the team builds advanced order management platforms that address evolving business needs and enable seamless supply chain operations with a commitment to engineering excellence.
 
What you'll do:
  • Own scoped feature and model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software intelligence and leverage GenAI tools to improve development velocity.
  • Assist in solution design, participate in design reviews, and ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and success metrics.
  • Monitor application performance and ensure adherence to project timelines.
  • Mentor peers and promote engineering best practices for continuous improvement.

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance software applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern software engineering best practices, including object-oriented design, design patterns, and automated testing..
    • Build and support cloud-native, microservices-based applications using RESTful APIs, GraphQL, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), Apache Kafka, CI/CD pipelines, and Microsoft Azure..
    • Design, develop, and optimize database and search solutions using DB2, Cassandra, SQL, NoSQL, and Elasticsearch to ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and data integrity..
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot complex production issues, optimize application performance, and deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions using Git, JUnit, and Agile/Scrum methodologies..
    Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
