Job description

Insight Global’s client is looking for a skilled electrical engineer to augment their growing construction team. The client designs, engineers, constructs, and maintains physical and electronic security systems for high-risk assets to serve governmental, commercial, and industrial customers worldwide. The next stage of the client’s growth requires the addition of a detail-oriented, hands-on electrical engineer to strengthen the client’s engineering team’s ability to support its internal and external customers. The project engineer will develop work plans for design-build construction projects, participate in the design and development of new products, collaborate with project management to solve field constructability challenges, and develop submittals for construction projects.

Duties:

  • Develop design-build construction drawing packages to include the following:
    • Electrical site plans.
    • Riser diagrams.
    • Panel schedules.
    • Single line/ block diagrams.
    • Voltage drop calculations.
    • Electrical details and conduit schedules.
    • Photometric plots.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to research and develop potential new proprietary products, including programmable electronic control systems for electromechanically and hydraulically operated systems.
  • Develop standard drawing details.
  • Assist with the development of proprietary product documentation, including data sheets, shop drawings, O&M manuals, specifications, and installation manuals.
  • Prepare material and equipment submittals.
  • Develop custom operator panel layouts in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure materials are delivered to specifications.
  • Design low-voltage control systems to include ladder logic-based programming, panel design, component selection, and test plan development.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction managers, and field technicians to develop modifications to construction drawings as required to adjust for site conditions.
  • Conduct project site investigations to gather information on existing conditions, field measurements, and other items in support of design development.

Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or comparable software is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is required.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills are important.
  • Experience with Procore project management software or similar desired.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
