Job description

Yamaha is seeking an International Trade & Compliance Manager for our facility in Kennesaw, GA. The International Trade & Compliance Manager is responsible for International Trade (Import/Export/Compliance) to ensure Yamaha Motor Corp and its subsidiaries remain in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection laws and regulations as well as other government agencies, and that they are performing consistently with YMUS objectives and expectations.
The International Trade & Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining global Trade Compliance programs to ensure adherence to international import/export regulations, customs requirements, trade sanctions, and other applicable laws. This role also oversees Operations related to the coordination and clearance of inbound cargo, as well as administration of shipping cargo to foreign customers.
This role partners with cross-functional teams including logistics, procurement, sales, finance, legal, and operations to minimize regulatory risk while supporting global business growth.
What you'll be doing:
  • Develop, implement, and oversee global trade compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, customs laws, trade agreements, and sanctions programs. Monitor changes in international trade regulations and assess their impact on business operations. Maintain and update trade compliance manuals, procedures, and documentation.
  • Review and approve international shipments for compliance with applicable regulations. Oversee customs brokers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers. Support customs audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Manage export classifications, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications, and country-of-origin determinations.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits and risk assessments. Identify potential compliance gaps and implement corrective actions. Investigate trade compliance violations and develop remediation plans. Maintain records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and deliver trade compliance training programs for employees. Serve as the primary subject matter expert on international trade regulations.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, procurement, and supply chain teams to support business objectives. Provide guidance to business units regarding import/export activities and trade compliance requirements.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and compliance metrics.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and due diligence activities from a trade compliance perspective.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical business guidance.
  • Project/Change management and leadership capabilities.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and trade compliance software.

What you need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Law, Finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in international trade compliance, customs compliance, import/export operations, or related fields.
  • 5+ years People Management experience.
  • Experience managing Global Trade Compliance programs in a multinational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures, and trade sanctions.
