We are seeking a Complex Claim Director to oversee our Personal Umbrella Liability claims, including auto, premises, and personal liability. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven ability to manage complex claim investigations and evaluations while ensuring optimal outcomes for our clients.

*Please note this role a fully technical/file handling role and does not manage a team.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Claims Management: Proactively handle Personal Umbrella Liability claims, emphasizing detailed investigation, evaluation, and monitoring of primary carrier activities to achieve the best results.

  • Coverage Analysis: Investigate and analyze complex coverage issues, providing clear and detailed coverage letters as necessary.

  • Investigation & Evaluation: Conduct timely and comprehensive investigations into liability and damages to recognize exposures early.

  • Claims Resolution: Focus on effective resolution strategies, including timely liability investigations, damage assessments, and reserve setting.

  • Best Practices: Ensure adherence to RLI's Best Practices in all claims handling activities.

Education & Experience
  • Education: Requires a bachelor's degree.

  • Experience: 8+ years of relevant legal or technical claims experience, with a strong background in handling large exposure third-party liability claims on a primary/excess basis.

  • State Knowledge: Significant experience with policy limit demands in Florida, Texas, and California.

  • Independence: Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with primary carriers and defense counsel, with in-depth knowledge of umbrella/excess handling and management of outside counsel.

  • Legal Acumen: Extensive knowledge of case law, statutes, and procedures impacting liability claims in Florida, California, New York, and Texas.

Compensation OverviewThe base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs.
