Job description

Overview

Opportunity: Area Director of Transient Sales

Develop and manage business transient (BT), consortia sales, FIT, and wholesale business for a cluster of hotels through proactive and reactive sales efforts. As part of the sales team, this is an advanced level position designed to focus on the maintenance of existing corporate and niche market specific accounts and the solicitation of new business transient accounts.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide the highest levels of customer service to internal partners and external clients at all times.
  • Respond in a quick, timely, and professional manner to all internal partners and external customers, and deliver clear and concise communiqué that is representative of Concord Hospitality via all avenues of communication.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management, self-motivation and proactive planning, and endeavor to be organizationally savvy with a keen focus on detail.
  • Satisfactorily maintain existing assigned accounts/segments, and work diligently to develop new business for the hotels.
  • Become familiar with the hotels’ annual budget and sales expenses, and be knowledgeable of the hotels’ occupancy, average rate, and REVPAR goals and performance metrics.
  • Become the expert on your local and like-branded competitors, and work to ensure the hotels are receiving their fair share.
  • Work closely with Complex Director of Sales & Marketing and Revenue Management in order to ensure optimal revenue achievement.
  • Work with Complex Director of Sales & Marketing to develop and execute against Sales & Marketing Action plans with a keen focus on Business Travel and Consortia segmentation. This includes quarterly events and proficiency in managing quarterly marketing campaigns as it relates to both segments.
  • Consistently attain sales activity goals and individual revenue goals including - but not limited to - proactive and reactive calls, tours and appointments required for this position, as outlined by your Complex Director of Sales and Marketing.
  • Learn and use digital sales systems and conceptual sales processes (i.e. Delphi.fdc, Envision Sales and Delphi Essentials) and understand the hotel’s sales strategies (i.e. marketing plan, rates, budgeted goals, etc.). Implement these tools and resources in order to accomplish individual and team goals and efficiently complete job duties.
  • Proficient in key reports such as Travelclick Agency 360 and Demand 360. Excellent communication skills needed in order to communicate out data and analysis from these reports.
  • Prepared for, participate in, and report on all necessary internal meetings, conference calls, reporting, planning, training, and other communications required for this position.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years sales experience, preferably in the hospitality industry. Business Travel experience is required.
  • College degree in hospitality or business administration is required.
  • IHG & Marriott experience is preferred.
  • RFP experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a similar operational area for a minimum of two years; (corporate sales & high end leisure travel agencies an advantage).
  • The specific strategic or operational knowledge needed to perform the job.

Work Environment and Context

  • Work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions with external and internal customers.
  • Stand, use hands to handle, control objects and tools, and use telephone and computer systems.
  • Face to face and indirect contact with the public.
  • Handle cash, other forms of currency and occasionally guests’ valuables.
  • Maintain composure and patience during times of high hotel volume and during emergency situations.
  • Responsible for work outcomes and results.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Comply with company and the hotel brand’s guidelines and requirements.
