Manager, Competitive Intelligence

Legend Biotech is a global biotechnology company dedicated to treating, and one day curing, life-threatening diseases. Headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey, we are developing advanced cell therapies across a diverse array of technology platforms, including autologous and allogenic chimeric antigen receptor T-cell, T-cell receptor (TCR-T), and natural killer (NK) cell-based immunotherapy. From our three R&D sites around the world, we apply these innovative technologies to pursue the discovery of safe, efficacious and cutting-edge therapeutics for patients worldwide.

Legend Biotech entered into a global collaboration agreement with Janssen, one of the pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson, to jointly develop and commercialize ciltacabtagene autolecuel (cilta-cel). Our strategic partnership is designed to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

Legend Biotech is seeking a Manager, Competitive Intelligence as part of the Commercial team based in Somerset, NJ.

Role Overview

The Manager of Competitive Intelligence (CI) will serve as a strategic thought partner responsible for generating actionable insights that inform decision-making across R&D, commercial, and corporate strategy functions. This individual will lead proactive and on-demand CI initiatives, including competitor monitoring, landscape assessments, early signal detection, conference surveillance, and strategic analysis that supports pipeline development, lifecycle management, and long-term planning. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, collaborative, and business-oriented professional with strong communication skills and a deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead competitive intelligence activities across assigned therapeutic areas, platforms, and/or programs, delivering high-quality, actionable insights to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Conduct comprehensive landscape assessments, including scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial dimensions.
  • Monitor competitors' pipelines, clinical data, regulatory actions, collaborations, and market events to identify emerging threats, opportunities, and early signals.
  • Monitor new entrants and startup tracking: Monitoring early innovation signals, investments, and disruptive players
  • Synthesize complex data into clear narrative insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead end-to-end conference CI planning and execution, including surveillance plans, abstract triage, onsite (or virtual) monitoring, rapid-readouts, and post-conference summaries.
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to ensure aligned priorities and actionable outputs.
  • Build and maintain CI frameworks, dashboards, market landscapes, and tracking systems to support continuous monitoring.
  • Manage internally created CI dashboard and in some cases external CI vendors and ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with business needs.
  • Develop and implement CI best practices, tools, and standardized processes.
  • Serve as CI lead for R&D, commercial, BD, and strategy teams; participate in team meetings and strategic discussions as an insights partner.
  • Partner with forecasting, medical affairs, and commercial strategy to ensure cohesive interpretation of external environment dynamics.
  • Required to make decisions on a day-to-day operations for their tasks, and technicalities related to CI mostly.
Requirements
  • Master's in life sciences, business, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech competitive intelligence, strategy, consulting, market research.
  • Strong scientific and clinical acumen in relevant therapeutic areas; hematology/oncology and autoimmune experience preferred (if applicable).
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering strategic insights and influencing decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complex information into clear insights.
  • Highly proficient in CI methodologies, secondary research, data interpretation, and triangulation.
  • Skilled at working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments with tight timelines.
  • High integrity and ability to manage sensitive/confidential information.
  • Familiarity with CI tools, databases, and information platforms (e.g., Evaluate, Cortellis, Datamonitor, Alphasense, and clinical databases).

The base pay range below is what Legend Biotech USA Inc. reasonably expects to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location. The company reserves the right to modify this range as needed and in accordance with applicable laws. Other Types of Pay: Performance-based bonus and/or equity is available to employees in eligible roles. Benefits and Paid Time Off: Medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match that vests fully on day one. We offer eight (8) weeks of paid parental leave after just three (3) months of employment, and a paid time off policy that includes vacation time, personal time, sick time, floating holidays, and eleven (11) company holidays. Pay Range (Base Pay): $127,313 - $167,099 USD

Please note: These benefits are offered exclusively to permanent full-time employees. Contractors are not eligible for benefits through Legend Biotech.
