Job description

Founding Clinic Director - Palo Alto Area
Launch and lead a clinic. Build a business. No startup risk.

Compensation: $120,000 base + profit sharing from day one
Total compensation potential: $215,000+
Benefits: Full health benefits + 401(k) match
Most physical therapists spend their careers delivering care inside systems they did not build.
A small number want more.
They want to lead.
They want to build.
They want to understand how a great clinic actually grows.
They want to develop people, drive performance, and create something meaningful, without taking on the financial risk of starting from scratch.
That is what this role is built for.
Competitive Edge Physical Therapy is opening a new clinic in the Palo Alto area and hiring a Founding Clinic Director to lead it.
This is not a traditional clinic director position. It is a chance to launch and grow a clinic inside an established company with proven systems, centralized support, and a serious expansion vision.
You will lead the clinic locally while our team supports the infrastructure behind it with marketing, sales, operations, systems, finance, and strategic guidance.
Who this is For
This role is for a PT who is:
  • ambitious enough to want more than a clinical job
  • excited by leadership, growth, and accountability
  • interested in business, not just patient care
  • motivated by building a team and growing a location
  • ready to become the kind of leader who can scale with a company

If you've ever thought, "I want to build something bigger, but I don't want to take on all the startup risk alone," this may be the opportunity.
What Makes this Different
Most PT leadership roles are just heavier caseloads with more admin work. We've designed this role to be different with intentional focus on growth, impact, business skills, and progression towards a skilled operator leader not just a busy clinician.
You will learn how to:
  • lead and develop a team
  • grow a clinic strategically
  • understand financial performance and profitability
  • build referral and community relationships
  • improve conversion and patient experience
  • create accountability and a high-performance culture
  • operate a clinic as a business, not just a treatment schedule

You won't be doing it unsupported. You'll be backed by a centralized team and a company already proving the model across multiple locations.
What You'll Do
  • Launch and lead a new Competitive Edge Physical Therapy location
  • Build and maintain a strong patient caseload
  • Create an exceptional patient experience and clinical standard
  • Mentor and develop clinicians and team members
  • Build local relationships and community presence
  • Drive clinic growth, team performance, and profitability
  • Help execute the long-term vision of the company as we scale

About Competitive Edge Physical Therapy
Competitive Edge Physical Therapy is a cash-based physical therapy company serving active adults and athletes throughout the Bay Area.
We combine elite care with advanced technology, including:
  • 3D motion analysis
  • Instrumented treadmills
  • Dual force plates
  • EMG biofeedback

We believe movement should be measured, improved, and protected for life. We are building the premier movement health company for high-performing adults who want to stay capable, active, and unburdened as they age.
We are also building a company where exceptional clinicians can become exceptional leaders.
Our vision is to grow to 10 clinics by 2028 and become the top destination for physical therapists who want to lead, build, and grow.
Who We're Looking For
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in California, or eligible for licensure
  • Several years of clinical experience
  • Strong leadership potential
  • High accountability and growth orientation
  • Interest in business, team development, and clinic growth
  • Willingness to build relationships in the community
  • Desire to be part of a high-standard, performance-driven organization

Who this is not for
  • Someone who only wants to treat and go home
  • Someone uncomfortable with accountability
  • Someone who wants leadership in title only

Compensation & benefits
  • Base salary: $120,000
  • Profit sharing from day one
  • Total compensation potential exceeding $215,000
  • Direct leadership training and mentorship
  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • Healthcare benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Sick pay
  • Two hours of paid professional development per week

Ready to build something bigger?
Most physical therapists will never get the chance to launch and lead a clinic with real support behind them.
If you want to grow as a leader, build a high-performance team, and create something meaningful without startup risk, we should talk.
