General Summary:The Dir, Compensation Programs is responsible for the design, development, and management of our global compensation structure to include base, incentive, and recognition elements. This position will lead the transformation of our global compensation framework to enable career growth for employees, workforce management efficiency and our strategic business initiatives. They will use advanced analytics and predictive modeling to create compelling strategic insights that fuel the work. This role will require a candidate that has deep subject matter expertise, a strong ability to partner and build relationships, strong analytical capabilities, and creativity to drive successful and effective programs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and administer compensation programs that are internally equitable, market competitive, and compliant while supporting overall business objectives.
  • Manage the global career framework, aligning and supporting career enablement for employees and workforce planning for leaders.
  • Complete complex analytics and predictive modeling to formulate clear and insightful strategic compensation program recommendations that are market aligned and position Unum as an employer of choice.
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners and Senior Leadership Team to develop compensation initiatives that align, drive, and amplify Unum group's strategic business and workforce goals.
  • Design and oversee our annual compensation review process, including our annual incentive programs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a collaborative compensation team using a consultative approach
  • Partner with our People Delivery Group to automate processes, dashboards and digitally enabled compensation processes that help drive decision making for leaders
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and vendors to improve programs, ensure competitiveness and optimize our portfolio.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop and manage meaningful dashboards that help leaders manage and execute on their workforce management strategies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of external compensation practices and trends including applicable legal regulations

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years' experience in the development and management of global compensation programs preferred
  • Certified Compensation Consultant (CCP) designation is desired
  • Demonstrated ability to translate global business strategies directly into actionable compensation work
  • Demonstrated ability to assess business issues and develop effective solutions
  • Ability to create strong partnerships and work effectively at all levels
  • Strong influencing skills; Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility to work well under pressure while managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong math and statistical ability

Proficient with technology including HRIS, excel, PowerPoint and external vendor compensation solutions

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$89,900.00-$169,900.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
