Date: June 20th - July 15th

Reports To: Managing Director

Department: Sales & Business Development

Employment Type: Full-time

COMPENSATION

Base Salary: $150,000 – $220,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Performance Bonus: Target annual bonus of 30% – 75% of base salary based on revenue, gross margin, and strategic account objectives

Long-Term Incentive: Equity participation / stock options available for exceptional candidates based on experience, performance, and strategic value to the company.

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Director of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Sales is responsible for leading the growth of the company’s solar module sales within the U.S. Commercial & Industrial solar market. This position will develop and execute the company’s C&I sales strategy, establish strategic relationships with EPCs, developers, engineering firms, commercial solar installers, energy service companies (ESCOs), and large commercial customers, and drive revenue growth across the United States.

This is a senior commercial leadership position requiring significant experience selling solar products and solutions into the U.S. C&I market. The successful candidate must possess an established network within the commercial solar industry and a proven track record of generating and closing substantial solar-related sales opportunities.

Candidates without direct U.S. solar industry experience, particularly in the C&I market segment, will not be considered.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES​​

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy focused on the U.S. Commercial & Industrial solar market.
  • Achieve annual revenue, gross margin, and market share objectives.
  • Build and manage relationships with:
    • Commercial solar EPC contractors
    • Commercial solar developers
    • Distributed generation project developers
    • Small scale utility developers
    • Commercial and industrial facility owners
    • Solar distributors and channel partners
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across commercial rooftop, carport, community solar, distributed generation, and behind-the-meter applications.
  • Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline utilizing CRM systems and structured forecasting methodologies.
  • Lead contract negotiations, pricing discussions, supply agreements, and strategic partnership arrangements.
  • Collaborate with operations, production, finance, and executive leadership to align customer demand with manufacturing capacity.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence to support production planning and inventory management.
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, policy developments, IRA incentives, domestic content requirements, and market opportunities.
  • Represent the company at major industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events.
  • Support key account management activities to ensure long-term customer retention and repeat business.
  • Develop channel partner programs and strategic alliances to accelerate market penetration.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports detailing sales performance, pipeline development, customer activity, and market trends.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 7-10 years of direct sales experience selling Solar Modules within the U.S. solar industry.
  • Minimum 5 years focused specifically on selling Solar Modules to Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers
  • Demonstrated experience selling solar modules to the U.S. C&I market.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding annual sales targets exceeding $100 million in revenue.
  • Established relationships with commercial solar EPCs, developers, distributors, and large commercial customers.
  • Strong understanding of commercial solar project economics, financing structures, incentive programs, and procurement processes.
  • Experience negotiating long-term supply agreements and strategic partnerships.
  • Experience working with domestic-content requirements and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) incentives preferred.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, Renewable Energy, or a related field preferred.

Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Deep understanding of the U.S. Commercial & Industrial solar market.
  • Strong knowledge of solar modules, distributed generation systems, and commercial project development.
  • Exceptional business development and relationship management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to identify, qualify, and close complex sales opportunities.
  • Strong contract negotiation and commercial structuring skills.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Strong analytical and forecasting capabilities.
  • Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar CRM platforms.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30-50% throughout the United States.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • Direct experience selling into the U.S. Commercial & Industrial solar market.
  • A demonstrable network of commercial solar EPCs, developers, installers, and project owners.
  • A proven history of closing significant commercial solar transactions.
  • Strong references from customers, partners, or employers within the solar industry.

Candidates whose experience is primarily residential solar, utility-scale development, general manufacturing sales, electrical equipment sales, or unrelated industries without meaningful C&I solar experience will not be considered.
