Position Overview

As a Field Service Technician, you are responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of brewing and serving equipment at customer locations. This role requires a hands-on approach to problem solving, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to provide prompt and courteous service. Field Service Technicians play a key role in supporting the sales function by ensuring equipment performs reliably and meets customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Prioritize and schedule service calls, equipment installations, removals, and preventive maintenance with guidance from the Warehouse Manager or Field Service Supervisor.
  • Drive a company vehicle to customer locations to perform on-site service tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Install and remove brewing and serving equipment, utilizing plumbing and basic electrical skills as needed.
  • Diagnose issues by observing equipment performance and using appropriate troubleshooting techniques.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, make mechanical adjustments, and test equipment functionality after service.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and minimize customer disruption.
  • Manage parts inventory, including initiating purchase orders for machines and replacement parts as required.
  • Properly open and close work orders using a handheld device, record parts usage, and ensure accurate documentation of installations, removals, and repairs.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform regular inspections and scheduled maintenance.
  • Safely handle, label, and store defective or warranty-eligible parts in compliance with company procedures.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives and customers to confirm equipment placement and service needs.
  • Support bench repair work or in-shop equipment servicing when needed.
  • Report any property damage caused by company equipment and assist in documenting incidents in the absence of a supervisor.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties, as necessary.

Position Requirements

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Passing score on aptitude test may be required if diploma is unavailable.
  • 3 years of experience in HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, or similar mechanical field.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; CDL may be required depending on location.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Proficiency with handheld computer devices preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook); experience with SAP S/4HANA is a plus.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Internal Only: Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.

  • Field Sales Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be moderately loud in warehouse areas.
