Position Overview
The Retail Portfolio Manager is responsible for translating portfolio and innovation strategy into executable commercial plans that drive profitable growth across retail channels.
This role serves as the bridge between Marketing and Sales, ensuring new product launches, price-pack architecture, and portfolio strategies are commercially sound, operationally executable, and aligned to customer and channel dynamics.
The Portfolio & Commercial Strategy Manager owns commercialization readiness, price-pack strategy, retail activation planning, and portfolio mix optimization to ensure innovation and core products deliver both margin and volume growth.
This is an individual contributor role with high cross-functional influence.
Key Responsibilities
Price-Pack Architecture & Margin Optimization
  • Optimize pack sizes and formats by channel and customer
  • Strengthen price laddering to drive trade-up and margin improvements
  • Identify new pack opportunities (e.g., club, multi-pack, premium tiers)
  • Partner with RGM/Finance to align pricing, margin targets and pack architecture
  • Evaluate portfolio performance to rationalize underperforming SKUs

Retail Execution and POS
  • Own development of display-ready packaging and POS
  • Define retail standards for how the portfolio shows up on-shelf and in display
  • Ensure execution across warehouse and DSD environments
  • Lead POS strategy for LTOs, promotions, and events
  • Partner with Sales to improve in-store visibility and sell-through

Lifecycle Management
  • Monitor velocity, turns, and profitability
  • Recommend renovations, resizes, or discontinuation
  • Improve portfolio mix, margin and retail productivity
  • Ensure portfolio remains aligned to channel dynamics and retail realities

Insights & Portfolio Feedback
  • Translate in-market performance into actionable insights
  • Identify whitespace based on retail performance and shopper behavior
  • Identify opportunities to inform innovation and renovation pipelines
  • Partner with Insights to evaluate performance trends
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to ensure alignment on strategy

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, or related field required.
  • 7 years of experience in CPG marketing, commercialization, portfolio strategy, or retail sales support.
  • Experience in retail grocery and commercial go-to-market environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Insights.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of retail dynamics.
  • Experience with price-pack architecture and revenue growth management concepts.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into actionable strategy.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership and influence skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for internal and customer-facing discussions.
  • High ownership mindset with strong execution discipline.
