Posting Details
The Voice and Collaboration Services Bureau within the New Mexico Department of Information Technology (DoIT) is responsible for delivering and supporting statewide voice and mobility telecommunications services used by state agencies. Overall, the bureau functions as the state's centralized provider for enterprise voice technologies, ensuring reliability, modernization, and coordinated telecom services across New Mexico state government.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?
This position will oversee and support the states enterprise voice communications network and mobile communications services.
How does it get done?
Administer, configure, and maintain Avaya Aura platforms, Session Manager, Communication Manager, gateways, SIP trunks, and associated telephony infrastructure. Manage Microsoft Teams and Zoom Voice including call flows, Direct Routing, SBC configuration, number management, call queues, and voice policy administration. Provide engineering support for contact center platforms (Avaya Contact Center, Cisco/Webex Contact Center, Zoom Contact Center or other CCaaS), including call routing design, IVR configurations, reporting, and agent licensing. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex voice, SIP signaling, QoS, and network related issues across all supported platforms. Perform voice infrastructure upgrades, patching, migrations, and lifecycle management activities. Provides oversight, administration, and support for statewide mobility services (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) including mobile device management (Maas360, inTune)

Experienced working in an Avaya UC - Aura or Cisco CM
Experienced working with Zoom and MS Teams Voice
Experienced working with Zoom and Cisco Webex Contact Centers
Experienced working with and troubleshooting mobile devices
Strong SIP technology experience a must
Strong oral and written communication skills
Minimum Qualification
Associate Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in end-user support, systems administration, or network administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain current ID or Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required, and employment is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Incumbent responds, on a rotating schedule, to callback at any hour of the day on weekends and holidays for communications system diagnostic and restoration. Very long hours (10-12 hour days) are sometimes necessary to cope with system problems. Driving long distance (500 mile round trips) is sometimes necessary. Lifting in excess of 50-70 pounds is not uncommon. Climbing steel communication towers to 300 feet is not uncommon in all types of weather conditions. Light truck operation on and off road is necessary, sometimes in very adverse weather conditions. Transportation and operation of snow machines (Sno-Cat) in mountainous terrain is required. Working in odd physical postures is necessary when installing or repairing radio equipment in vehicles and on remote site installations.
