Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting a Commodities & Logistics ("C&L") Banker to join our Capital Partners business. In this role he/she will be responsible for building the Firm's relationships with privately owned businesses and their owners in the Commodities and Logistics space. The C&L Banker will be an ambassador for all aspects of BBH's Capital Partners business with clients, prospects, industry contacts, intermediaries and referral sources. By working closely with private businesses and their owners, he/she will develop, maintain and grow multi-generational relationships with successful family owned businesses and their owners. The C&L Banker must build a robust internal and external network to support business development. He/she will establish close working relationships with colleagues in BBH's Multi-Family Office, Corporate Advisory, and Private Equity groups to further the development of new and existing relationships.

The C&L Banker will be the quarterback for relationships with corporate clients, working closely with colleagues in other areas of BBH Capital Partners and will be a trusted advisor to business owner-clients and prospects. He/she will approach each client and prospect as a corporate finance generalist who brings a strong working knowledge of capital markets, capital structure, mergers and acquisitions, industry dynamics, and commercial lending to the dialogue, taking a long term, strategic perspective. He/she will be familiar with the Firm's investment platform and the factors that differentiate BBH's investment philosophy and offerings.

The C&L Banker will also be a lending product expert within the Commodities and Logistics Group. He/she will be responsible for following the credit quality of relationships where the Firm has put its capital at risk, working with BBH's Credit Team and banking analysts to ensure proper credit monitoring, documentation and follow-up.

The C&L Banker will also be involved in longer term projects within BBH Capital Partners that are designed to promote business within the Commodities and Logistics industry in conjunction with colleagues from other disciplines within the business.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and deepening relationships with private businesses and their owners using a corporate finance advisory perspective

  • Marketing the BBH Capital Partners value proposition and entire suite of BBH services, including lending, private wealth management, and private equity

  • Evaluating new strategic credit opportunities

  • Converting prospect relationships to BBH Capital Partners clients.

  • Building a broad network of intermediaries and industry contacts/influencers

  • Deepening relationships with existing clients such that BBH becomes a trusted advisor to the owners using a corporate finance mindset

  • Converting lending and/or advisory relationships to wealth management relationships

  • Ensuring the highest standard of credit administration through thorough credit analysis

  • Working with banking analysts to ensure thorough and timely credit reviews are prepared, proper documentation is maintained and required financial information is received

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS from a highly selective university. MBA, CFA or formal corporate finance/credit training preferred, but not required

  • 8 - 12 years' financial services experience, preferably in corporate lending, corporate finance or mergers and acquisitions

  • Broad and deep credit, investing and corporate finance knowledge

  • Knowledge of financial markets

  • Interpersonal maturity, confidence, and poise

  • Strong organizational and written/oral communication skills

Salary Range

NY: Base salary $140,000- $190,000 plus annual incentive

The anticipated base salary range(s) shown above are only for the indicated location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
