Job description

Job Title: Salvage Coordinator
Department: Donated Goods Program (DGP)
Reports To: Sr. Director of Operations
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:
Maximize the value of all donated goods at the end of DGP process through salvage sales and recycling operations to minimize waste in the GWH system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee all salvage, waste, and recycling department activities.
Contact, research, and develop relationships with outside vendors to purchase and pay for salvage items.
Continuously cultivate relationships with external vendors to explore new avenues for salvage sales and recycling.
Maintain accurate records of internal inventory, commodity sales, revenue, and schedules at all locations.
Proved training to store leadership for their understanding on our aftermarket commodities, processes, and waste.
Schedule salvage, trash, recycling, and special activities based on management guidance and operational/seasonal trends in the most efficient manner.
Coordinate all necessary activities for timely shipping of all salvage goods from all GWH locations.
Minimize the expenses and total weight of GWH waste and disposal activities.
Maintain production reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as requested.
Meet or exceed productivity standards established for the departmental operations.
Provide quality customer service in a timely and courteous manner in response to questions regarding salvage.
Review salvage sales summaries to assure that GWH is receiving the maximum value possible for salvage and recyclable goods, including evaluating the position of other Goodwill agencies.
Update, maintain, and improve the computer salvage and inventory systems.
Work with GWH teams to optimize load planning to ensure efficient logistics and alignment with operational goals.
Implement strategies to annually decrease the amount of waste, enhancing efficiency and environmental impact.
Coordinate with accounts receivable as it relates to all salvage and recycling buyers to minimize days owed payment.
Coordinate transactions for all salvage hubs in cooperation with the transportation department.
Responsible for efficient storage of all materials awaiting shipment.
Any other duties assigned by management.

Adheres to all GWH Policies & Procedures, Loss Prevention & Safety Regulations and GWH Guiding Principles.
Must be punctual and have dependable attendance and maintain an appropriate appearance.
Must conduct work in a safe manner; maintain good housekeeping standards, have all aisles and pathways to fire exists clear and free from clutter, keep work areas neat and clean.
Adheres to local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience preferred.
Management experience is preferred.
Good computer skills.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holiday, evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
Must have reliable transportation.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI):
Exceed 80% of commodity sales (apparel and other commodities) above Goodwill South (GII region).
All sales to non-credit confirmed buyers are prepaid.
All sales buyers without confirmed credit status must prepay to secure the transaction(s) and cash flow.
Reduce year over year percent of trash.
Expand vendor network.
Load planning coordination.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
The ability to continuously stand/walk for duration of shift, frequently push/pull, occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/kneel/reach above shoulders and climb a ladder. Able to lift, up to, 40 lbs. (fixture parts, cartons of product).
Indoor work environment with exposure to outside temperatures. The noise level in the normal work environment is, usually, moderate.
