Summary


Provides comprehensive manufacturing support and collaborates closely with Design Engineering on assigned programs. Develop detailed Work Instructions, time standards, and build schedules; designs and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes in line with product specifications and quality standards. Drives continuous improvement in production methods, cell manufacturing, material flow, and visual management. Leads manufacturing launches for new or revised products, coordinating with Supply Chain, external suppliers, internal machine shops, Assembly, and Quality teams to ensure successful fulfillment of customer orders.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:  


  • Develop detailed Work Instructions, define manufacturing processes and procedures, and coordinate required tooling.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with customers regarding product build issues and manufacturing actions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing technicians to support fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing of aircraft parts and components.
  • Design and implement manufacturing processes, documentation, tooling management, and project workflows, including detailed task sequences and material flow planning.
  • Provide technical input and review during tooling design and specification to ensure alignment with manufacturing best practices.
  • Lead and support manufacturing project planning and scheduling to ensure efficient execution and on-time delivery.
  • Interface with Design Engineering, Operations, and Suppliers to ensure requirements and specifications are properly translated into deliverable products.
  • Utilize and manage ERP systems to develop product line-of-balance plans, manage long-lead materials, and meet production schedules.
  • Oversee project activities including bills of material, manufacturing plans, visual management, performance metrics, LEAN implementation, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Engineering, or related discipline. 
  • Five (5)+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in an aerospace environment.
  • Experience in all elements of manufacturing from build-to-print, sustaining engineering to assembly/integration and test. 
  • Experience in Lean/Six Sigma, 6S, and Continuous Improvement is desirable.
  • Experience with Tube Bending equipment and inspection characteristics is desired. 
  • Experience with soft goods, such as sewn products, is desired. 


Required Skills:

  • Language: Must have excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out      detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with      problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts,      interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Must      possess knowledge of geometric tolerance.

Other Abilities: Knowledge of sheet metal and aerospace materials preferred. Must possess thorough knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic. Must possess 3D modeling capabilities, preferably with CATIA or Solidworks. Must have knowledge to apply general use of databases/spreadsheets. Ability to complete the planning of workflow and meetings. Must have prior experience with the aerospace and defense industry (both commercial and government) serving world-wide customers. Must have strong organizational, project, and proposal management skills. Must have solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking. Able to use large amounts of data to make strategic decisions. Must have experience and a track record of success with Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing. Must have working knowledge of build-to-print packages and assembly drawing documents.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand and walk 6 to 8 hours a day. Must be able to work with their hands, arms and be extremely accurate. Must be able to walk, sit, and stand on a regular basis. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds on an occasional basis. 
  • Customary physical demands for an office environment. While performing the duties of this job in the production area, the employee is regularly exposed to moving high-speed machinery and mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to machine oils, metal fillings, acetone, paints, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock or vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
