We are currently looking for a Sr. Director Fundamentals & Commercial Strategy Manager for our Houston, TX office.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Fundamentals & Commercial Strategy leads the development of market intelligence, commercial strategy, and long-range commercial planning that support corporate growth, capital allocation, financial forecasting, and executive decision-making. This role serves as the company's center of expertise for energy market fundamentals, competitive intelligence, and strategic planning while leading the team responsible for developing the Commercial organization's annual budget assumptions and five-year business plan. The position provides the analytical foundation for growth projects, Board and investor communications, enterprise planning activities, and commercial decision-making.

Role Purpose

Lead the organization's market intelligence, commercial strategy, and long-range commercial planning functions to ensure that market outlooks, growth opportunities, commercial objectives, and financial forecasts are integrated into a single strategic view that supports enterprise decision-making and long-term value creation.

Strategic Market Leadership

  • Develop and maintain long-term views of natural gas, LNG, power, industrial and energy markets.
  • Provide executive leadership with actionable market insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities, risks, and competitive threats.
  • Develop enterprise commercial strategy frameworks and growth priorities.
  • Support strategic decision making, capital allocation, and business development activities.
  • Evaluate market positioning and competitive advantages across the asset footprint.
  • Lead development of the Commercial organization annual operating plan, budget assumptions, and five-year strategic business plan.
  • Manage the team responsible for volume, revenue, contract renewal, growth project, storage, transportation, and market forecasts used in enterprise financial planning.
  • Partner with FP&A, Finance, Business Development, Commercial Operations, and executive leadership to develop integrated long-range outlooks.
  • Coordinate executive and Board planning materials and reviews.
  • Ensure alignment between market fundamentals, commercial strategy, growth projects, and financial plans.

Growth Project Support

  • Provide market and economic support for expansions, acquisitions, and strategic investments.
  • Develop market studies, business cases, and customer presentations.
  • Support project evaluation, open seasons, regulatory filings, and commercial development efforts.

Executive, Board & Investor Support

  • Lead market-related content for Board presentations and investor materials.
  • Prepare executive briefings and strategic discussion materials.

  • Oversee market studies and consulting engagements.
  • Ensure external research delivers actionable business value.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Fundamentals & Commercial Strategy organization.
  • Establish priorities, performance objectives, and talent development plans.
  • Promote analytical rigor and a culture of business partnership.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in energy markets, commercial strategy, market analytics, business development, or related fields.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Energy Studies, or related discipline required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

  • Advanced degree preferred.
