Job description

Ascension Global Staffing & Executive Search, a Hispanic-owned, women-led national recruiting firm, is working with a boutique, mid-sized law firm client to identify a Commercial Litigation Attorney.

A growing, entrepreneurial law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate with 4–6 years of experience to join its Newark office. This role is ideal for an attorney looking for meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to take ownership of matters in a collaborative, less hierarchical environment. Associates are given the opportunity to manage cases with partner support while developing their own practice.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution with appropriate partner guidance
  • Draft and argue motions, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment, and discovery-related motions
  • Conduct and defend depositions, including fact and expert witnesses
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including strategy, document review, and production
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Work closely with partners while also operating independently on day-to-day case management

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar (New York Bar a plus)
  • minimum of 4–6 years of commercial litigation experience within a law firm
  • Experience handling business disputes, including contract, partnership, and/or financial-related litigation
  • Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable taking ownership of cases and working in a less hierarchical environment
