Colonoscopy Jobs (NOW HIRING)

GD Resources LLC is seeking experienced Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologists to provide comprehensive Gastroenterology services in support of Veterans at a Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility.

The Gastroenterologist will provide outpatient, inpatient consultative, and procedural GI services, including a full range of colonoscopy and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) procedures. Physicians will practice only within the scope of their VA-approved credentialing and clinical privileges.

Key Responsibilities

The Gastroenterologist will be responsible for:

• Provide comprehensive clinical Gastroenterology care to Veterans.
• Perform scheduled outpatient clinics and GI procedures.
• Provide bedside Gastroenterology consultations for non-ambulatory patients.
• Provide outpatient consultations for ambulatory patients.
• Ensure procedures are scheduled for completion within 30 days of the consult date, as required.
• Review and communicate diagnostic and procedure results to patients and referring providers.
• Provide appropriate medication management in accordance with VA policies.
• Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the patient's next level of care.
• Document all clinical encounters, consultations, procedures, and follow-up activities in the VA electronic health record.
• Use required VA systems, including CPRS and Provation, for clinical and procedural documentation.
• Participate in applicable quality assurance, quality improvement, patient-safety, and staff activities.
• Maintain punctual attendance for scheduled clinics and procedures.
• Participate in assigned on-call coverage when included in the Government-coordinated clinical schedule.

Required Procedural Experience

Candidates should be experienced and appropriately privileged to perform the core Gastroenterology procedures required by the VA, including:

Colonoscopy

• Diagnostic colonoscopy
• Colonoscopy via colostomy
• Colonoscopy with biopsy
• Colonoscopy with ablation of tumor, polyp, or lesion
• Colonoscopy with removal of tumor, polyp, or lesion using hot forceps
• Colonoscopy with removal of tumor, polyp, or lesion using snare technique
• Colonoscopy without biopsy
• Colonoscopy with submucosal intervention, as clinically applicable

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)

• Diagnostic EGD
• EGD with biopsy
• EGD with removal of tumor, polyp, or lesion using hot forceps
• EGD with removal of tumor, polyp, or lesion using snare technique

Advanced procedures outside the core requirement may only be performed when clinically required by the facility and when the physician possesses the appropriate VA clinical privileges.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must:

• Be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
• Hold and maintain all applicable current professional licenses, registrations, and certifications.
• Successfully complete required VA credentialing and privileging prior to performing clinical services.
• Maintain qualifications throughout the period of performance.
• Perform only procedures and services for which they have been formally granted VA privileges.
• Demonstrate the professional and clinical competency necessary to provide Gastroenterology care in a hospital environment.
• Meet applicable VA patient-safety, infection-control, privacy, HIPAA, and information-security requirements.

Clinical Workload

Approximately 95% of the physician's time is expected to involve direct patient care, including:

• Gastroenterology clinics
• Colonoscopy and EGD procedures
• Inpatient and outpatient consultations
• Clinical follow-up
• Review and communication of test results
• Patient education
• Procedure documentation
• Coordination of care

Approximately 5% of time is expected to involve administrative responsibilities such as:

• Staff meetings
• Quality-management activities
• Quality Assurance / Quality Improvement documentation
• Patient-safety reporting
• Required VA administrative activities

Scheduling & Coverage

Physicians will work according to Government-coordinated Gastroenterology schedules.

The VA may coordinate schedules across multiple physician/task-order awards to satisfy its overall requirement for four Gastroenterologists.

Depending on the assigned schedule, physicians may also be responsible for designated on-call coverage and applicable coverage requirements.
