They assess vehicle damage, provide repair estimates, explain the repair process to customers, and coordinate between customers, technicians, and insurance companies. Their role ensures that repairs are completed efficiently and that customers are kept informed throughout the repair process. Collision Service Advisors also handle paperwork, scheduling, and customer service to create a smooth experience for clients.

Why are service advisors paid so much?

Collision Service Advisors are paid well because they handle complex customer interactions, coordinate repairs, and often have sales targets that contribute to shop revenue. Their role requires strong communication skills, product knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, which are highly valued in the automotive repair industry.

Is being a service advisor a good career?

It can be a stable career with potential for growth in the automotive industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Collision Service Advisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Collision Service Advisor, you need knowledge of automotive repair processes, estimating practices, and customer service, often supported by experience in the automotive industry or related training. Familiarity with estimating software like CCC ONE, Mitchell, or Audatex and understanding of insurance claim systems are typically required. Staying organized and using collision management software can help streamline workflow, but adapting to fast-changing priorities and handling occasional difficult conversations with customers are important parts of the role.
