Job description

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Under the general direction of the Controller, the Accounting Manager is a key member of the accounting team with primary day-to-day responsibility for managing the financial and material related activities of the company. This includes responsibility for accounting, finance, job costing, inventory management, receiving, and fixed asset management. Responsible for managing all General Accounting & Payroll Functions as well as working closely with Materials Management which includes inventory control, costing, production planning and scheduling, and receiving. In addition, all other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage Finance and Accounting functions of the organization, including month end close.
  • Manage all aspects of the Material Management functions of the organization, including inventory control strategies, costing, receiving, as well as planning and scheduling within production
  • Ensure credibility by providing timely and accurate analysis of material costs, inventory turns & patterns, budgets, financial trends and forecasts
  • Monitor and evaluate the cash balance, cash forecasting, material costing, and inventory levels
  • Assist cost accounting and sales management in the review of significant customer pricing programs
  • Develop key performance indicators to manage COGs
  • Work closely with personnel in maintaining accurate product cost standards and the updating of these costs
  • Take hands-on lead position of maintaining, reviewing, and improving cost system
  • Maintain and improve inventory control, cycle counts and accurate inventory analytics
  • Partner with manufacturing and production to share and educate them on financial analysis and information
  • Provides supervision to department staff. Training and updating staff on the work environment and routine. Monitors work performance, making recommendations for improvement and providing necessary assistance and direction.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible financial accounting experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (highly valued)
  • Strong general ledger background: AR, credit and collections, AP, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Materials and inventory control and costing experience a plus.
  • Hands-on with an ERP and/or MRP system.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Sound judgment, high integrity, and a results-driven sense of urgency.
