The Production Supervisor is responsible for all production personnel and activities that occur during an operating shift. The Supervisor exercises decisions over the paint line hourly work force with respect to safety, environment, quality and production. The Supervisor is accountable for setting the standard for employee behavior and performance. He/she develops a positive team environment and is a strong advocate for teamwork and collaboration. The Supervisor handles the ongoing development of employees and a culture of continuous improvement. The Supervisor constructively interacts with production, quality, maintenance, engineering and customer service personnel to meet the needs of our customers and our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the production process and serve as the first point of contact for management, employees, and operation issues. This includes start/stopping production activities due to safety, environmental, quality, reliability, or people issues.
  • Make product decisions based on quality/compliance.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis).
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste and improve throughput.
  • Manage crew resourcing including training, vacation plans, call off coverage, and overtime.
  • Investigate incidents and enforce disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
  • Prepare shift reports and lead pre-shift/production meetings.
  • Capture delay/quality data including root cause analysis.
  • Proactively lead safety audits and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Champion a safety-first culture through daily engagement and corrective action.
  • Collaborate with planning, logistics, and sales to ensure production aligns with customer delivery expectations.
  • Operate and maintain production equipment safely, including forklifts, cranes, and hand tools.
  • Support customer visits and audits as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Foundational Experience

Required Qualifications & Experience: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred).
  • A minimum of five years of industrial work experience (10 years preferred).
  • A minimum of five years of supervisory work experience in a similar role (10 years preferred).
  • Experience with production tracking systems (e.g., MES, ERP).
  • Ability to analyze OEE, downtime, and scrap data to drive decisions.
  • Microsoft office proficiency with substantial Excel skills.

Desired Qualifications: To be considered an ideal candidate, you should possess some or all of the following qualifications:

  • Understanding of coil coating processes, including pre-treatment, curing, and color matching.
  • Familiarity with substrate types (e.g., galvanized, galvalume) and their behavior during painting.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly performs near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold or heat.
