Job Title: Vice President, Portfolio Specialist

Department: Portfolio Specialist Group

Reports To: SVP, Head of Portfolio Specialist Group

FLSA Code: Exempt 

Estimated Salary: $200,000 - $215,000 

 

Job Summary:

The Vice President, Portfolio Specialist will play a critical role, serving as a proxy for investment teams in Cohen & Steers efforts to grow its business amongst financial intermediaries.  This position requires deep investment and product knowledge, strong presentation and marketing skills and the ability to work across both institutional and wealth channels.  The individual will also be required to build the necessary relationships within the various internal groups at Cohen & Steers (i.e. portfolio management, distribution, marketing, etc.). The primary emphasis will be supporting the groups Senior Portfolio Specialists representing the Cohen & Steers Preferred Securities and Cohen & Steers Listed Real Estate investment teams. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Serve as subject matter expert on investment strategies, portfolio positioning, and markets, working closely with portfolio managers and analysts
  • Clearly articulate investment philosophy, process, investments, and performance to internal and external audiences
  • Support client acquisition and retention by joining client/prospect meetings alongside distribution partners
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop differentiated and high-impact messaging across written, digital, and presentation materials
  • Respond to portfolio and market related questions from distribution, marketing, and RFP teams
  • Provide regular updates, training, and thought leadership to internal audiences to strengthen product knowledge and client engagement effectiveness
  • Provide support to Senior Portfolio Specialists

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7+yrs of experience in investment management, product management, or client-facing roles within the asset management industry
  • Must be an action-oriented, disciplined, strategic thinker motivated to support sales and grow strong investor relationships
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills and the ability to make the complex, simple
  • Experience leveraging AI tools beyond basic chat functionality to improve workflows and drive efficiency
  • Team-first attitude, with a high degree of accountability, initiative and collaboration
  • Series 7 and Series 63 required
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA/CFA/CAIA are preferred
  • Up to 25% travel may be required
  • Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives
  • Agrees to comply with the firm's hybrid work policy ("work from home policy," as aligned with the Company's employee handbook), which currently requires reporting to the Company's New York City office four (4) days per week, with one (1) remote workday permitted.
