Do you want to be an "Intelli" at our brand new Santa Monica coffeebar?We do business differently to forge new paths in specialty coffee.We are pioneers in the direct trade model for buying coffee and creating coffee partnerships all over the world. We're passionate about coffee, and that means we pay a bit more for coffee in order to buy direct and create long-term, collaborative relationships with our producers that grow exceptional coffee.

The starting wage for a Barista in Santa Monica is $19.83/hr. There is an extensive training program and a new hire generally should become full-bar capable within 90 days. After certification, the pay rate improves to $20.62/hr. The position is eligible for tips. These average $5.00-7.00/hr.

Job duties:

  • Operationally, adhere to policies, safety standards and protocols, and make suggestions for improving operations

  • Prepare and serve beverages that adhere to our freshness and quality standards

  • Maintain your coffee knowledge to educate and communicate with guests

  • Engage with all guests in a hospitable, sincere and friendly manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred

  • Speak and read English proficiently

  • Dependable with good attendance and punctuality

  • Can effectively communicate with others

  • Able to learn and master coffee tasting profiles and dial-ins

  • Good teamwork skills

  • Able to multi-task and work in a high-volume environment

  • Must have weekend availability

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear

  • The employee is required to stand, walk, and sit on a continual basis. Will periodically stoop, kneel or crouch.

  • Will use hands to reach, carry, hold items, or use the tablet/register

  • May occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Retail store environment

  • Noise level is normally moderate

  • Expected hourly range is 20-30 hours per week
