Assistant Coffee Roaster & Production

Part Time up to 25 hours per week

We are looking for someone who has a genuine passion for coffee and is excited to learn the art and science of specialty coffee roasting. This is an entry-level position designed for someone who enjoys working with their hands, values consistency, pays close attention to detail, and is eager to develop a specialized skill.


As a Coffee Roasting & Production Assistant, you will work alongside our roasting team to learn every aspect of coffee production-from green bean receiving and inventory management to roasting, packaging, quality control, and equipment maintenance. We are looking for someone who is humble, teachable, dependable, and committed to learning the craft of specialty coffee.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in coffee, food service, manufacturing, warehouse, or production is a plus but not required
  • Ability to obtain a California Food Handler Card
  • Ability to work on-site at our warehouse headquarters
  • Ability to occasionally work weekends or holidays as production demands require
  • Ability to learn and safely operate commercial roasting and warehouse equipment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills every day


Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 155 lbs (single coffee bag)
  • Push and pull 150-200+ lbs using pallet jacks
  • Stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift
  • Work safely in a warehouse environment that may be hot during the summer and cold during the winter
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Wear steel toe shoes


Key Responsibilities

As a Coffee Roasting Assistant, you will receive hands-on training and progressively take on additional responsibilities as your skills develop.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with daily coffee roasting production following company recipes and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Learn how to safely operate commercial roasting equipment
  • Package roasted coffee accurately for cafe, wholesale, online, and shipping orders
  • Label, organize, and prepare coffee for distribution
  • Maintain accurate production records and inventory documentation
  • Help receive, organize, and store incoming green coffee and warehouse deliveries
  • Perform daily cleaning and preventative maintenance of roasting and production equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Assist with quality control by learning coffee cupping and tasting procedures
  • Support inventory counts and stock rotation
  • Work closely with the roasting team to meet daily production goals
  • Continuously learn about coffee origins, roasting techniques, brewing methods, and quality standards
  • Assist with cold brew production and other warehouse production tasks as needed
  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, organization, and quality


This position is designed for someone who wants to build a career in specialty coffee. This role starts at up to 25 hours per week.
